So, a near half billion dollar jet is not a gift but an exchange as Qatar is getting a Trump brand golf course.
I agree - but from what I understand, it is literally the latter. Trump taking something that already existed and just putting his name on it.
So we have reached the point in our programming that Republicans are using stuff like this to justify Trump's jet bribe: https://bsky.app/profile/atrupar.com/post/3lp5a3exc4n2l They are also using the Statue of Liberty as justification for this. Ummmm, although the Statue of Liberty was authorized by Congress to be accepted as a gift, it was also not a personal gift. It wasn't something Glover Cleveland brought home with him. Last time I checked, it was still on Liberty Inland. The jet was a personal gift (a bribe) for Trump that he would take with him, assuming he eventually leaves office (or if he is dead, his kids will get it or something). We are about a week away from Trump saying, "Yeah, it was a bribe. What are you going to do about it?" Meanwhile, get ready for polio to make its return soon to the United States: https://bsky.app/profile/atrupar.com/post/3lp5avqlgkz2c The crazy old dude was swimming in raw sewage with his grandkids. He is like Frank Drebin in The Naked Gun 2 and a 1/2:
Just saw 15 House Republicans sent a letter to Speaker Johnson chastising him for not being aggressive enough pushing Trump’s agenda. It’s amazing how these MAGA lackeys will criticize anyone and point the finger at anyone, but Trump himself. How much longer is Johnson going to last I’m surprised he has made it this long
If I were a university in another state I wouldn't accept students from a state with such poor curriculum requirements.
This is one of the more dystopian things I've seen come out of a country that is increasingly dystopian.
@CampOfSorgan They have not gotten to the nitty gritty yet, but ultimately, all of them except Don Bacon will fold. Much of it is grandstanding. In the end, they will do whatever Trump wants. Now you can see why not only was Oklahoma the only state in the union to have every county vote for Trump, but also why it's dead last in education. Dead. Last. Oh, and the crazy "superintendent" of their school system is still under investigation for fraud charges as he will most likely get booted from office. @Count Yubnub It's hard for teaching certificates to travel from state to state. Many have different standards and practices, so sometimes, if you have a license from one state but want to teach in another, you often need to take a test(s) or even a class(es) in order to have the certification transfer over. Not all states. Florida will take a certification from anywhere because deep down, they know qualified teachers are solely lacking in their state. You don't even need to be a college graduate to be a guest teacher or, in some cases, even teach! But in most states, you need to do some work (or more) to have your cert transfer over. I can see blue states going, "nope we will not take your certification under any circumstance" which will suck because there are plenty of qualified good teachers in OK that are desperate to get out. So some Republicans are clutching their pearls over Trump's bribe from Qatar: https://bsky.app/profile/carlquintanilla.bsky.social/post/3lp5nsk7ek22x Notice he says that Trump should not give the jet back or anything like that. Just clutch their pearls and then fold. Waiting for Susan Collins to say she is "very concerned".
Um really surprised no one went after Trump on this after his first term. It was the most slam-dunk conviction you could have given him. I bet this is all the Oklahoma state superintendent of education’s doing. He’s so radical that other Oklahoma Republicans want to impeach him. They need to get rid of Ryan Walters. Before he becomes the next Trump.
Using bribery to bring Trump under Qatari and Saudi influence actually seems to have made him slight less dangerous than when he was under Netanyahu's influence. His people met with Hamas, and though it did nothing towards advancing peace, it at least got that 1 US hostage released. Of course, he doesn't give a rat's ass about Israeli attacks on civilians, the famine they're facing, and the increasing civilian displacement by expanding Israeli occupation, but that's pretty much to be expected. He's also attempting to deal with Iran diplomatically and refusing to provide support to an Israeli attack on Iran, and he declared a truce with the Houthis. It's better than I would've expected, and if the cost for moving away from Netanyahu is a big jet airplane, maybe it's worth it in some sense. I think there was an emoluments lawsuit brought against him during his 1st term, but scotus kept delaying and delaying it until his term expird, and then they said that since he was out office, the lawsuit didn't serve a purpose anymore, and threw it out. Maybe I'm not remembering correctly, but I think that's the gist of it.
There are some of us who would tell the state of Oklahoma to **** all the way off with that nonsense.
There were a few. Mostly done by Trump and his cronies. I doubt that's the answer they're looking for though.
In other news, the DNC works to undo the only decent and intelligent move they have made in decades, the elections of David Hogg and Malcolm Kenyatta, because they did not kiss enough donor class and geriatric ass:
The article is sorta vague, but my inference is that there's a rule that the vice chairs can't all be the same gender.
Did they not figure out that Hogg and Kenyatta were the same gender at the time they were elected, or did they just use that as an excuse?
