That's hugely relatable tbh, my playlist is a mix between:

-a few popular songs from within the past year or two, and a few from the pandemic era, mix of pop and hip-hop

-a few songs from the 2010s, mostly popular charting ones but ranges from pop to hip-hop to a little edm (Avicii in that category :p)

-a few iconic songs ranging from the 80s to the 2000s, mix of pop, hip-hop and a little rock

-some music from the 40s to 70s, these are super random ranging from Frank Sinatra to Clearance Clearwater Revival to one or two Woody Guthrie songs [face_laugh]

Then there's movie scores mixed in and a few songs from musicals I've learned since being in college (shootout to Fiddler On the Roof's Sunrise, Sunset) and a couple old jazz pieces mixed in

I only really started expanding my music tastes a few years ago, but a random person seeing my playlists would probably think there's something deeply wrong with me [face_laugh]

Even my current favorite song is, of all things, a cover of a Beatles song and that cover was made for a movie like 30 years ago :p ( @s_heffley that movie happens to star Tobey Maguire pre-Spiderman but I haven't even watched the movie itself lmao)

Not officially, but the Blizzard is a popular item at DQ. My uncle used to say "It's Blizzard time." When we were kids.

Oh, and idk how when explaining any stuff I listen to in the mid 20th century era I didn't mention Queen, that's a staple for me :p

(((((((Just in case anyone asks, Don't Stop Me Now is my favorite Queen song lol))))))

You get a big discount IF you can give your order in an accurate Pennywise/Tim Curry voice

That's exactly how I am except I wish I had the same confidence Pete had here :p

I'm glad I'm not the only one [face_laugh] now I feel less self conscious about my music, I'd be happy to hear anyone else's obscure songs in their playlist; another time a professor asked students to present three songs we were listening to currently I had to show them a song from the Persona series, even though I know legit nothing about what the franchise is about

....and I only heard the song because it was used in a video for a Mario Kart mod, of all things [face_rofl]

Almost all the music I listen to are soundtracks, from games, tv, movies, whatever. Can't get enough of the stuff. Earlier today I was singing along to Live & Learn from Sonic Adventure 2, now I'm checking out the Tales of the Underworld soundtrack (Cad Bane stuff only for now).

You know what's a good score for a game I've never played? Shadow the Hedgehog. Imagine the edgiest rock metal you've ever heard, add a dash of techno and a pinch of acoustic guitar, and bam, there it is. This song in particular is so emo-core it hurts, I love it.

Oh what song from Persona? I know a few. Also never played, but I've definitely encountered some through watching livestreams and stuff :p

(In other words I used to hear Adriana sing them @Dandelo) [face_laugh]
Sonic is another great example of music I love but haven't played :p

    @Jedi Knight Fett

Going from speed in music form to how lowkey Shape of You is and then back to adrenaline is hilarious [face_laugh] but still good music tastes

I think my craziest back to back is probably

This (this version or the original Woody Guthrie version depending on how I feel that day lmao) :

    To this:

To this (this is the one from the Tobey Maguire movie heff idk why i had a whole hyperfixation of this song cover but i did, the instrumentals are *chefs kiss* ) :

Though on shuffle/randomized one time I had it go from Carry On Wayward Son to Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter which is....really funny :p

At first I just saw the song you linked and I was about to yell at you about no Live and Learn or City Escape until I read your post [face_laugh]

I'm also in the same boat about the Shadow The Hedgehog soundtrack, I've never played it and only heard the soundtrack from reviews I watched like 7 years ago but I remember wondering why the soundtrack went so hard for a....flawed game like STH or Sonic 06 for that matter :p

THATS SO FUNNY I halfway expect Espresso since it's so recent but the combination of that and such an older song is hilarious, our group really does have a lot in common :p

Sonic 06 I have played, and that one’s in my running for top Sonic game soundtracks (just beaten I think by Sonic Unleashed). I never got past the second level of 06, at least not until fan modders made it actually playable :p

@s_heffley @Jedi Knight Fett @darkspine10 no matter what, there's no way y'all are ready for the most obscure/weird song in my entire playlist

It's a song for a *political campaign* of all things

Of a campaign that happened before my mom was born and when my dad was a toddler

And of a politician that I don't like or agree with literally at all

But if you listen to it it's genuinely kinda heat as far as campaign songs go :p

That’s not too bad a song, there is some charm in that 60’s brass/folk march style music. Kinda sounds a bit Bob Dylany.

Of course, the subject matter just comes off as hilarious with hindsight.

I only know of the song because I fell down the rabbit hole of this superrrr obscure browser game where you can play through the political campaign of random candidates in elections throughout history and try to win (or sabotage them, you get feedback that's genuinely hilarious. One time as Reagan I chose such liberal answers my campaign team answered with only "what the **** is wrong with you?" [face_rofl] )

And the game has a cool lil mechanic where they can add in songs that were popular/pertinent to the time period that election happened

So I heard the campaign song in that and was like damn this is kind of cooking

    :p
