ST Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens

It falls in line with this rumor pretty well.

Think of it; what is described in all six Star Wars film titles comes full circle by the end of each film.

The Phantom Menace- "Always two there are....." "....but who was killed the master or the apprentice?" Windu and Yoda realized that they have a mystery bad guy on their hands.

Attack of the Clones- Pretty self explanatory the Clones kind of freaking attack at the end of the film.

Revenge of the Sith- Oh hey, this is easy. Watch ROTS, what happens at the end?

A New Hope- Luke blows up the Death Star and sparks new hope in the Rebellion and takes his first step of becoming a Jedi by trusting in the Force to do it.

Empire Strikes Back- Han in carbonite, our hero's hand gets chopped off...yeah the Empire struck back alright. The film leaves our heroes on their heels; good guys lost.

Return of the Jedi- Luke both defeats and redeems his father and finally becomes a Jedi Knight and with the death of Anakin becomes the only known living Jedi Knight. The Jedi have returned.

The Force Awakens-
The imbalance Luke feared bringing back to the galaxy is set into motion by the new evil. But it is not only evil that brings Luke Skywalker out of exile. The good in the universe does as well when one of the heroes convinces him the place he is in is not where he belongs. By the end of the film, he apparently atones with his place and power in the galaxy and our new heroes have a mentor to take on the old evil that has infected the galaxy during Skywalker’s absence.

THUS THE FORCE AWAKENS.

Their description for the plot of Luke most definitely fits with this new title so I find their rumor is pretty reliable.

I love the title!

 

I approve. Also, I don't mind one bit that they dropped the "Episode VII" from the title.

Hasn't taken me long. I like it!!!

 

This. It just sound lamely innocuous compared to all the previous titles. I suppose A New Hope is the most similar, but even that one has a certain earnest and naive charm to it. But overall the previous titles have that pulpy, B-serial effect of leaping off the screen; titles in action, so to speak. This one just kinda sits there, and vaguely conveys what I've been fearing from Disney/Abrams: that they're too afraid to go "full Star Wars", instead opting for something more acceptable by contemporary standards that demands grownup coolness. 'The Force Awakens' plays that safe middle ground. But, we'll see.

 

Come on. So now The Force Awakens is a title designed to turn its nose at the midiclorians?

It's not a bad title. I am sure I will warm up to it and get used to it like all of the others. It's still not as good of a title as The Phantom Menace or Revenge of the Sith.

 

It's a Star Wars title, I don't really care too much. Hell, on e of my favorite movies ever is called "THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK", which is not a great title either. Besides, Star Wars titles tend to be quite literal, alluding to the main story element, it's not bad. A little cheesy now that Star Wars it's a commercial empire and we have video games and mediocre books with similar titles. In the end it's the content that really matters.

One thing I don't like at all is the logo. I hope it's just something for this announcement and NOT the final one. I like that they are dropping "Episode VII" from the title, it makes sense, but the typography and final design arrangement is lazy and distracting.

 

I love the title, personally. Continues the tradition of a 3 word title (A Phantom Menace, A New Hope) and it's a helluva lot better than The Ancient Fear

 

More likely following the OT. Advertised as The Force Awakens but "Episode VII" will be before it on the film itself.

 

Sounds like the plot to Mass Effect.

 

Checked her only other post. It said yes to Mace Windu returning for the ST. Looks like that cyborg is going to be Mace not Luke.

 

I don't think it sounds pulpy or cheesy at all. If anything, it evokes a slightly pretentious quality to me, similar to The Dark Knight Rises. Like others have said, it sounds like a video-game title. The logo is a little underwhelming and I'm kind of disappointed they dropped the Episode 7 moniker as well. I'm still VERY excited for the movie and I think it's going to be great, but the title reveal is a bit of a misfire for me.

That being said, I don't care much about the title, either way. As long as the film is good, I'm cool with whatever.

Oh and the reason you're getting a title this early, is because the #StarWarsEpisodeVII teaser 'should' be released Xmas time.

 

"The Force Awakens".. It does sound rather underwhelming, more like a tagline than a title. I feel like, are they sure there's not something in any SW media that has this title already?

But who knows, maybe it'll grow on me.

 

i like the title because it gives me more to speculate about what might be "awaken" in the movie. if those rumors about Luke are true that were posted within the last 24 hours then he might be "re-awakened" due to his force powers being dormant for so long.

 

No one seems to realize that this can mean only one thing - Jar Jar is released from Carbonite!

 

Hey we just gotta be thankful that it isn't stupid like Star Wars: Genesys or Dawn of Justice

I saw the title announcement in my Instagram feed this morning on my commute to work and literally couldn't stop howling like a maniac in my car. THE FORCE AWAKENS. Yeah, baby! OOOOoowwwwww! Yeeewwww! YES. YES. OHH. That's one sexy title.

 

It'll still say Episode VII on the crawl.

 

I like it. Ancient Fear was really growing on me, but The Force Awakens is fine, too.

For people who hate it...what did you want?

 

Although its not in the graphic, they have not dropped the VII, at least entirely. The official site still has this film under the "VII" tab on its menu.......
