God, I miss Castle Greyskull...

That font has actually seen action in Star Wars before. They used it for the titles on the Droids cartoon.

 

Yes, a number of folks have pointed that out. It's very plausible, given the rumors are she lives on that desert planet and scavenges for supplies.

 

There's a similar shape to them, but it looks like a leather covering, and the lenses themselves look more elongated...but there is a simularity there.

Watch this and check out the end logo. It's much more dynamic and fresh than the font in the official teaser:



It's like we're stuck in 1977. Oh boy. I dunno, perhaps we need a few things, y'know, moving on a bit. Progress isn't such a bad thing! Maybe someone at Lucasfilm - the logo art department - can do a fresh logo before release date? Just a suggestion! The video is kinda cool too - lol!

 

The stormtrooper helmets look wider than the leaked ones.

 

I sense the galaxy will be divided into two governments: the New Republic and Empire. Much like the PT had the republic and the CIS. They will be fighting over something.

On the TIE Fighters, the colors are definitely inverted, but there is another change: the "arms" between the wings and hatch now curve and flow from the wings to the hatch, whereas in the past, they were a bit more angular.

 

Except you can still see the Rebel Alliance emblem. I think they would've changed it up a little if they adapted it for a new republic.

 

Maybe we will see some "inbetween-the-eras"-helmets at Kira's home similar to Ezra's collection in Rebels.

 

Wow I haven't posted here for ages. Here goes...

First of all, loved the trailer. Great dynamism, exciting visuals, and unlike others here I thought that the shaky cam befitted the new and improved baddass stormtrooper look. However, what has pushed me to come out of lurker mode (for the first time in around 12 months) is the constant, and I mean constant, PT-bashing associated with the release of this trailer.

I vehemently disagree with those posters who are accusing PT admirers (or at the very least, PT-non haters) of coming out of the woodwork to bash the new trailer on account of their resentment. I do not disagree with these posters because they are wrong in all cases (quite frankly, the manner in which SW fandom has fostered and cultivated division and hate over the past 15 years is astonishing, and OT-era fanboys shouldn't just expect the division to go away once the ST is released and their faith in SW has been restored. Actually, this isn't going to happen in any case, as I'll explain below) but because for the most part PT admirers are saga fans first and foremost and so will embrace the ST or reject it on the basis of its cinematic merits.

Otherwise, I see a great deal of PT admirer baiting going on and on pretty much every nerd news site on the interwebs. Not only is this disappointing to those who find some merit in the PT, it is getting downright personally abusive. Check out this video as an example. PT admirers are frequently made to feel like bumbling idiots and it is tiring, off-putting and ultimately made me turn away from fandom for a significant period of time. I come back after the release of this great trailer and what do i find? More of the same rubbish. No wonder some PT fans feel utterly bitter and resentful. They have a right to. Repeat after me. They have a right to.

I don't agree with everything Piett's Hutt for example said about the trailer (the stormtroopers and unambiguously different and more baddass, for example, and the X-wings are significantly more souped up) but I totally get why fans like him are sick and tired of all the online virus of PT-bashing.

As an aside, I mentioned above that some OT only fans will be looking to the ST to recreate their childhoods. Here's some advice. Don't have that kind of expectation. Just don't. Because by the look of this trailer the ST is going to go its own way (regardless of the X-wings and the falcon) and much of what appears in these new films will rankle you in the wrong way if you go into the theatre expecting the OT-feels. Despite the misleading marketing campaign which will undoubtedly play into nostalgia vibes to some degree, these films will not 'feel' like the OT any more than the PT did. Get over it people. And for goodness sake, just stop bashing the PT. Just stop.

 

Maybe, maybe not. They could be the Galactic Alliance rather than a new republic. Wouldn't surprise if they kept the emblem.

The sound in the cockpit when we see Oscar Isaac reminds me of the distorted sound when the X-Wing pilots communicate at the battle of Yavin (heard here at 01:05 "I copy, Gold Leader)

That X-Wing scene to me was just spectacular. Ah man it was awesome.

 

Could this be the second teaser with the OT cast that was rumored? Or perhaps the photo of Luke Skywalker that was teased.

Maybe forr this reason alone the ST will cater to everyone seeing that everyone has differing opinions. Myself, I share the same opinions PJ had, I mean the x-wing scene felt something out of ROTS. Maybe thats a good thing... Right???

GMA revealed the Force For Change video with "Bob" and JJ. I expect it's more substantial.

My guess is it's a poster, maybe accompanied by an interview with the person on the poster (Mark Hamill, please!).

 

Who did you all think the voice over belonged to before it was revealed?

 

I just hope it's some character names or something. That's all I want although I will take a poster or anything

 

It's too early for a poster, unless it's a teaser poster, but that would be boring.
