I think getting your hand cut off and finding out the guy who did it was your very own father is itself a dark enough place :) That being said, it definitely would be interesting to see if Luke finds a holocron at some point between ESB and ROTJ. Perhaps in Ben's old hut? Or perhaps he becomes ravenous for more Jedi knowledge, spending every waking moment of his life trying to improve himself, and travels to Moraband to test his limit against dark side energies. Oh the possibilities.

Didn't he already go through everything at Ben's old hut when he went there and used old parts to build his new lightsaber?

Star Wars #4 will, indeed, have Luke going back to Ben's hut before ESB. I cannot help but think Luke won't find what he is seeking because he is so new to the Force. This should be interesting in contrast to RoTJ.

I still hope we see some kind of media focusing on Luke closer to Episode VII. I'd definitely be into reading something like that (but no romance for me please, Mara Jade killed any interest I had in Luke having a wife / lover.)

Yea I feel the same way. Actually, it feels kind of weird having Luke visit Ben's hut this early in the series. It's almost as if they're going to have Luke come back to it several more times, treating it as a sort of fortress of solitude :/

I have no doubt we'll be getting media on Luke closer to Episode VII. Perhaps Star Wars Inside might develop short stories leading up to his decision to go into self-imposed exile?

Of course we will. Disney will turn Luke Skywalker into a giant cashcow.

Provided Disney/Lucasfilm stay true to the spirit of the original Lucas/Hamill character, I've no problem with that! :D

Although the EU novels often did a fine job of tiding me over, I've been waiting an awfully long time for the focus of the franchise to point back towards Luke, Leia, Han and Co.

Take my money, Lucasfilm. I want more Luke!

Those new pieces of art for Heir to the Jedi rock! That first one with arm guards on Luke especially. I mean, why didn't all Jedi wear those in the prequels? It would've added that extra edge to their often plain look. And there's a sense of regality to arm guards - as if to say they were, you know, Knights

LOL at the Fortress of Solitude... good analogy. Yeah, we will see more of the OT leading up to and after the release of Episode VII. That is the era I am most interested in, regarding Luke. It's uncharted territory as I read practically none of the Star Wars novels dealing with the OT big 3 after the Thrawn trilogy. And while I was against seeing the OT big 3 for awhile, thinking about a more mature Luke makes me far more open to his character.

I want a Trandoshan character with lines so bad, bonus points if they're on the side of good! Not sure if Hamill's the right guy for the part though.

I wonder how long it will take for the Story Group to de-canonize the new canon and the fans to become disillusioned with the new content? i.e. Luke's new Jedi robes, although 'lovely' is already being criticized for inaccuracy in terms of time frame. I understand the purpose of the Story Group, but I wonder how successful it will be in the long run. No matter how good the idea sounds, in the end it constrains and limits future storytelling. It's a new era and eras begin and end.

IMO the preview of the new Star Wars comic issue proves that the Story Group presence is not going to make everything fit perfectly and makes sense. People tend to forget there was a lot of planning in the old EU, and that Lucas had always a word about it, as Disney will surely have now on this new one. But I would have been surprissed if Vader had holded his own saber and fight Luke and still do not realise who he was back in the old EU.

Not having read the comics I can't comment on their content, but I always thought Vader knew who Luke was before TESB? He'd have to be rather dense to learn of a force-sensitive ace pilot named Skywalker and not be at least suspicious.

Yep, that´s whay I don´t find credible that
he fights Luke after the Death Star is destroyed, he does not feel the same level of power he felt when he was chasing him on the Death Star, Luke claims Vader killed his father, Vader picks his OWN saber he uses in ROTS and with all that he does not seem to think he is fighting his son.

I know Anakin was not the most clever mind inthe class (Palpatine is a good man and so), but c´mon.

Bear in mind, we haven't seen that seen fully play out yet. From Vader's perspective: Luke is this random kid who has been given his own lightsaber by Obi-wan.

maybe he thinks Kenobi gave him his previous lightsaber, train a kid (Kenobi) to kill your father's killer as he thought his own child had been dead for almost 20 years.
