ST Online Chat Room For Live Panel Simulcast.

Hey Peoples,
Now that we have confirmation on the J.J./Kennedy panel being simulcast on Thursday, I thought it would be best if we had a J.C. Forums Live Chat setup somewhere. Most of us remember how crazy it got here when the teaser was released, with the site being somewhat inaccessible, but more importantly 10 pages popping up while you were typing up a post, which made it extremely difficult to keep up.

Just throwing the idea out there, if we had a large online chat room to discuss things as it happens, it would take a huge load off the J.C. forums while still allowing the masses to communicate more effectively.

What do you all think? We could even start the live chat early in the day for us East Coasters.

 

I would love this! I won't be able to actually watch much if any on friday because I will be at work...or I would be able to watch without sound (pointless), so getting some dialogue here would be most welcomed.

 

I'll be on steroids anyway so bring it.

Why can't we hang out in a Twitch channel and watch live stream ?

I would like to see the Jedi Council Forum staff come up with a solution. This is their community and it should be sponsored and hosted by them.

If they don't wan't to or can't do it, then we should get their approval to advertise the chat room and when it will be available for all J.C. community members.

 

Not from over seas, I am from the mid-west. I actually had a brain fart and thought it started on Friday, but on Thursday we have the day off for the place that I work it is called "the day of rest" after the tax deadline. So, if the wife lets me...which see will, I will be listening at noon central time to the live broadcast. And now that I know I will actually be able to listen to it....I am even more excited to see all the things that go on during the convention.

 

Count me in for a live chat room! The JJ/KK panel starts at noon here and will be at work's pc

 

Hopefully someone with the know-how and the live-stream can set this up.

 

Just goto http://www.mirc.com/index.html and download mIRC then create a chat room.

 

It would be better if we came up with a solution that didn't require to install anything. Something we could just link to and join easily.

 

We are currently discussing this and will get back to you shortly with the official Mod Squad stance on this idea.

I'm not joined to me SW is this forum or nothing.

 

Lets all remember that when you are in a chat room, all discussions and comments are lost for good once everyone has logged out. It's always nice for the reaction to be in the form of posts on a message board for those of us who will not be able to follow live or can't log in until a bit later. Also, it's always fun to have record of the all of the reaction years or months later for those who wish to go back and re-read down the road for nostalgic purposes.

 

I'm sure we all will be doing both to some extent, but the vast majority of simple one liners or comments (that we wouldn't really miss) would be played out on the chat room.

Who are we kidding folks, this site is going to get hammered come Thursday. Even if it stays up with access (which I really doubt for a few hours) the posts will be coming in so fast that keeping up will be impossible. Besides it's not like everyone will be moving over to the chat. I honestly think it would be mostly just the regulars and it would have a cool party atmosphere about it. It's about Celebrating right? well I could think of no better way then to celebrate with you fine folks come Thursday then chatting up in real time.

Call it the J.C. Forums Celebration Online Chat Party.

 

Well in that case, TFN needs to make sure they are prepared for the influx of traffic that day. They are the largest and most well known SW fansite on the internet, so I can't believe they don't have the resources to simply make sure they are prepared, so the forums don't crash.

Then again, I'm sure the trailer will "break the internet" anyway.

Does anyone know of any simple online service that we could gather to do an online chat with. mIRC is one, but it would be great to have something where we do not have to install a client.

Once we get official word from the Mod squad, I would like to move forward not only with a solid information on how to connect to the live chat room for the JJ\Kennedy panel but also information on how we can specifically access the live feed from starwars.com and possibly from YouTube.com.

Having all this info in one thread (especially in my OP) so it will make it easier for the community to communicate and celebrate during the teaser. This sort of is a big deal as we all should get our S- together to make sure we plan for the onslaught of traffic that is going to come.
