Is that crystal something new or old?

 

That Dragon pearls are Kyper crystals? Yep looks like a retcon do to TCW.

Krayt Dragon pearls were in the KOTOR games, and could be used to enhance your lightsaber.

 

What's the current canonical status of FFG's Star Wars stuff? Is it canon or Legends, or is only the material published after April 25, 2014 considered canon?

 

It's not canon, though weirdly there are some indications that it's trying to conform with it - most notably that strange little notification in one of the Force and Destiny books (I think) about how the history of the ancient Jedi and Sith should be considered "unconfirmed legends", which the rest of the book pays no attention to.

As far as the actual material goes, it's fairly freely using elements from both. It's Sinrebirth-canon, basically.

 

Inside the krayt dragon, that's why it hade to be taken out. The peal, skin, meat, bones, etc. were just an added bonus.

Which is both confusing and frustrating to me. Those two sources are so rich, and yet I can't determine what I should do with them.

 

Talking 'bout Wookieepedia. Now that we have Canon and Legends tab for every page, those "gray areas" are a nightmare.

 

Calling them a form of Kyber crystal is new, but Krayt Dragon pearls making good lightsaber crystals showed up in Galaxies (RIP ver 1, so long NGE)

 

I must have missed something, but... how does that even make sense? It's like saying that bezoars are pieces of quartz.

 

Kyber crystal could be a category, like rare earth magnets, rather than a specific gem or mineral.

 

Your campaign isn't canon though so what does it matter?
