Dagobahsystem, I know it seems impossible because I am such a ridiculous person in this thread, but I have been giving the favorite Beatles songs thing some more thought and I am still stuck. Like, I cannot believe how much ground they covered in such a short time, it almost doesn't all seem like it's one band, you know? How can I leave out Please Please Me? Or Rain? Or Hello Goodbye? Or Something? It's too hard.

You guys do not even understand how much I love(d) the Beatles. Star Wars has NOTHING on them in AMJ's personal history.

Deliveranze, do not do that. You want to be employable, and unless you are looking into a few very specific fields, you want to have a Bachelors or Associates degree or some kind of certification. I promise. Having money is a good thing. You don't need all of it, but you do need some.

 

If that is your path. Only you can decide that...

Girls make dirty jokes just as much as guys do. I know this because I work with 2 girls at my job and they make subtle sex jokes every day.

Thats just my Slang(not to be stereotypical, but I'm black who used to be in an predominately ghetto hood back in Tennessee) I talk that way, I type that way. It is what it is...

 

Deliveranze, do you maybe need to switch schools? Several of my friends found that helpful. But really, it's not that you CAN'T make a living without college, but for people your age and younger it's just going to be harder and harder to do it as college becomes more and more of the "standard." Get your ticket punched. Find something you like that can support you as an adult, and do it. It won't always be awesome but it beats the hell out of the alternative. Trust me on this, I am not that far from the other side of this and I know plenty of people who wish they'd stuck it out.

 

Oh yeah, the "girls aren't dirty" thing is a big myth. I'm not the sort of person that prissy people can be around so maybe I have my own sample, but in my experience women are probably raunchier actually in a lot of ways.

The bolded does sound like me, except without the middle school kids. Middle school is the worst for everyone involved. Also, as a (former) Spinster Aunt, I can tell you without any bias that aunts are the best. We double duty as an adult that can be trusted but we're also fun and most importantly Not Mom. I'm basically another set of eyes on my sister's kids except I curse a lot more and unapologetically. But they know if they get in trouble, they can come to me too.

13 albums in less than 8 years, not counting singles! Nearly every song is great and way over half of them are incredible, masterpieces of 20th century songwriting.

My sister is single and my kids love her. LOVE. They sob when we leave her and she lives 15 minutes away from us, hahahaha. I think you're on to something.

But I do have a foul mouth, so the swearing thing isn't something she'd own. I really need to curtail that.

 

Agree with this. College can have its ups and downs, but it's also good to have completed. I have a graduate degree, and that really sucked but living off that punched ticket is sweeeeet. I have friends who are in better positions because they made some different life decisions (that I still wouldn't choose for myself) and some worse off because they delayed school too much or didn't complete it.

 

Yeah. I not sure. I was thinking about transferring but Im lost now. I don't know what I want to do and I'm not very connective with others. Major introvert.

The one time the kids called me out on swearing I told them that being an adult was awesome: I can have cake for breakfast, jump on the bed all I want and swear all the time. And that they could do all those things when they were an adult too. And what's great is that they were like, "Aw, man, I can't wait to be an adult! This kid thing is unfair" and just accepted that reasoning instead of arguing. It was kind of a manipulative coup.

 

I really don't think we'll ever see another Beatles. They were perfect, they existed, that's it.

My entire room was basically plastered in Beatles posters. At age 11/12/13 my greatest wish was for a time machine so that I could go back in time and marry one of them because they were so, so cute and funny and talented and brilliant.

...It's all connected, you know. I eventually ran out of Beatles albums to fixate on, so I started listening to the rest of the British pop canon, and I ended up at then-present day Britpop around the time that the ultimate 90s Britpop soundtrack came out, and then shortly thereafter the guy from the album cover got cast as Obi-Wan Kenobi and I vividly remember being like, "yes! It's *all* coming together now." All of my obsessions run together eventually.

 

Well Del, whats something you like to do? Rap music right?
