The best thing about Fallen Order is that it makes The Hu a part of Star Wars canon.

Cal's taste in tunes are my jam.

so everyone is always wearing a poncho and swapping, right? I almost took it off and immediately regretted it. Got sort of a mainly white and gold one early on that I like so far. Never removing the poncho, it has a real Jedi robes/superhero cape vibe. But a poncho!

I still have the camo poncho from Kashyyyk on. I had the white/gold before that. I'm about half way through the game and loving it so far! There's definitely some bugs and glitches (most noticeable on Kashyyyk imo) but otherwise it's been great!

I've been using a brown one that has a very Eastwood vibe to it.

Bruh this tomb of Miktrull just don’t end. Raise the spire my ass. 2 days stuck going in circles and I won’t risk spoilers by looking it up. Beyond pissed off at the brick wall I’ve run into and it’s probably right there in front of me how to solve.

I just started the game today. Loving the story, not liking the Dark Souls elements. I don't want to lose my XP because I die. We shall see how long I last on Jedi Knight. I think I will get it but it's a little annoying.

I will fully admit to being a coward and restoring my health every save point even though it respawns everyone. But haven't had much trouble with it aside from I saved, enemies respawned, and some giant slug thing kicked the crap outtta me while I was looking at my map.

Well I got killed by a big enemy I stumbled upon on the first planet you land on. Now I am determined to kill it, and I am stuck in a loop because I can't kill it :p

there's an even bigger nastier one hidden in a cave on that same world, I didn't even bother with him, I'll level up on the next planet and then go back, assuming I can remember where it is.

Those frogs are a-holes. My strategy was hang back just inside the cave. Wait for my Force meter to refill and Force dash. Rinse repeat until it's dead. Go to the Force echo behind him.

I think Inquisitors work well. They’re like probe droids scattered out across the galaxy. Vader is doing killing but he can’t be everywhere. I just take it the Inquisitors were either all killed or were no longer required by the time of ANH.

    What is this abject cowardice?

I played on the hardest difficulty, and the only way to refill the force meter in that mode is to wail on your opponents with your lightsaber. Never retreat! Never surrender!

I did eventually kill one giant frog! Another helped me by leaping off a cliff when it saw me coming.

I am glad I realized you don't have to rest when you save. So it's not necessary to respawn enemies unless you really need the health and Force.

Made it past the first planet so now I am actually into the story of the game..very intrigued by where this is going.

Gaming is about more than difficulty.

Now that discussion hasn't really begun but is going to have to be had because difficulty is something inherited from gaming's early days and it's not questioned. From Software recognised the value of both carving out a niche of doing hard games and advertising them as such but outside of that? When you have gaming websites advocating to play on the hardest difficulty? Why does the difficulty matter? Why do the new Wolfenstein games get away with rendering the difficulty settings as one in macho attitude? W2 was one time when a couple of game journalists posted that it was a better game on easy!

We're all very used to the equation of 'video game = difficult' but it hasn't been examined in light of where we are now.

Well you see when science fiction as a genre label was artificially imposed on cheap literature...

    *Five hours later*

... and of course into this heady brew of allegedly competing and yet overlapping paradigms comes a little thing eventually called Space War...

    *Five hours later*

... marketing campaigns around meaningless “blast processing”...

    *Ten hours later*

    ... gamification...

    *Fourteen hours later*

... And that’s why I’m not allowed in Singapore.

Finished it this evening. A really enjoyable game. Seen a lot of people say Cal's "bland" which is, I think, unfair.

I enjoy the role reversal where Cal's not the one being tempted by the Dark Side, but the older former master. It's not much, but it's a pleasant change of pace.

Also, I appreciated how they made Vader some nearly unstoppable monster.

Really hope we can see more single player Star Wars games, not least a sequel to this. But, being EA, I'm not holding my breath.

I am 80 percent done and I love the game, probably right behind kotor 1 for me as my favorite star wars game, but im a sucker for the uncharted/tomb raider type games. I am playing on jedi master and I think the difficulty is just right. The game is hard but fair. I also think they dole out story elements at just the right pace. Also love the force echos and how they tell the story of each planet. My one complaint is most of the worlds feel empty besides kashyyyk. While I love the temples and ruins it would have been nice to go to one planet that actually had a town. This game is full of side content but I wish there were some side missions. My only other complaint is hate how the jump feels, it is really floaty. The characters are great I love them all. Cal works for me, and all the voice acting is top notch. I hear some gamers think the storm trooper chatter is corny, but I love it. I once scared a guy so bad he wanted to give up and run, (would be nice to allow you to do that, since you are a jedi) I also feel like a sith sometimes when five guys are near a cliff and I just force push them off, but oh well.

Also minor spoiler, this is shown in the trailers
while I hated forest whitaker portrayal of saw in rogue one, I really like him here in this game

Overall easily a 9/10 for me.

I do wish the Soulsbourne games had easy difficulties just so I could explore them. I hate gamers who are snobs about difficulty. There's nothing wrong with liking hard games, but nor is there a problem with wanting to play on an easy setting. The youtube channels I follow advocate playing however you want. I agree there is no inherent value in difficulty.

Finished the game last night, I'll try to write up a spoiler heavy review this week to get some conversation going, but for now my verdict is that it's excellent. Easily the best story-focused SW game since KOTOR2. I started on Jedi Master difficulty and managed to fight through it until the first major boss fight, after that it was mostly Jedi Knight, and I ended up bumping it down to story for some of the nastier fights. I think it's important to go in with some humility unless you're a real sadomasochist because it can be intense.

It took me around 20 hours, I'm guessing, but I was trying to get all chests and scans, so I was taking my time. It's definitely a total package experience, a finely tuned combat system, sprawling mazes with puzzles, carefully directed cutscene and motion captured performances, all with a Star Wars theme.

It's not perfect though, and there are lots of elements that feel only half-complete, but hopefully that can be implemented in a sequel, which happily feels inevitable. It doesn't really innovate for the third person action adventure genre, but it's a thoroughly enjoyable experience, and the fact that it's Star Wars makes it a must buy. And without getting too much into spoilers, I'll just say that it does bring the GFFA to life in ways that are surprising, unprecedented, and in a sense, surpassing the Disney films' exploration of betrayal, inter-generational suspicion, and nostalgia.

One little thing to praise (I'll try get more comprehensive in my review), the extent to which Respawn was able to really own Star Wars is to be commended. There was a moment on the first planet, Bogano, where I had Cal take his poncho off and do some exploring like only a video game character can. I realized that while Tomb Raider and Uncharted are emulating the Indiana Jones archetype for their protagonists, Cal is much more Luke on Dagobah, an exiled Jedi, maybe the last of his kind, with nothing to rely on but his lightsaber and The Force. His master is dead, and his destiny is uncertain, but you know he has an amazing adventure in front of him.

    just got to
Ilum to build my lightsaber, what an awesome scene, and my wife was watching me and she actually cried during the part with BD-1 playing the message from his former master. Freaking awesome story here. Plus this location does make me think that Ilum was indeed turned into star killer base

while I agree with you on this point 90 percent of the time, the combat is basically the gameplay here and I do think something is lost playing on story mode. Half of what makes this game so fun is going from a padawan to a jedi, and that is lost on easier difficulty I would think. Im 85 percent done now and I feel like a true jedi, maybe not force unleashed powerful, but I do feel like nothing much can stop me now. I only have three abilities left to unlock. It was that grind of going from somebody who almost cut themselves off from the force to a jedi that makes the combat so rewarding, at least to me.
