The Mandalorian The Mandalorian Season 2 Discussion (Spoilers Allowed)

Well, I guess we all now know who the mysterious figure was at the end of episode 5. My guess is Fett gets his armour back. Forcefully.

 

I think it was boba as it didn't seems like Boba's armor and Cobb Vanth is a sheriff of Tatooine, doubt he check on Fennic Shan.

 

I hope this doesn't mean that boba won't be in season 2... I'm kinda nervous.

 

Who knows maybe Fett's episode will be something of a standalone adventure?

Fett has tracked down Vanth and wants his armour back, however due to his injuries gained from the sarlaac Fett reluctantly hires the Mandalorian to help him. The Mandalorian initially refuses as Fett is not a true Mandalorian however he ultimately accepts the job when sees how meaningful Fett's old armour is to him. Thirty minutes of action and suspense later and Fett is back in his armour and departing from Tatooine in the Slave II. Before he leaves, the Mandalorian (having seen how bravely Fett has fought to uphold Mandalorian culture) refers to Fett as 'a true Mandalorian'. Cue the credits..

 

This is great! Taking such a minor character and putting him in the biggest show in the world and then getting Timothy Olyphant to play him shows how much they’re committed to making everything count. I love it!

 

I wonder if we will have more aftermath connections in this show like first order and Sloane.

 

Personally i don't think they would ever have Boba ask the mandalorian for help. he would just go in and take his armor back... which i think is still a possibility.

There might be some misleading going on for the audience. helping also to update the audience, who will still believe Boba is dead because someone else is wearing his armor.

Infact lets say Lucasfilm didn't want the Boba news getting out. course they would also reveal this new character wearing the armor. everyone will now assume Boba is still dead.

 

It seems my speculation was wrong... I really didn't think he would be playing Vanth. That being said, I am glad they are taking the role seriously if they want Vanth to actually become a fleshed-out character.

Some possible scenarios for a 1-3 episode arc...

Either Boba is a villain and Vanth helps Mando deal with him

OR

Mando sees Vanth as unworthy of the armor and helps Boba get it back.

OR

Boba Fett isn't in the show and the people reporting that he was were mistaken. They saw someone wearing his armor and assumed it was Boba Fett because they heard that Temuera Morrison had been cast. Surprise, Morrison is either playing Rex or just appearing as Fett in a flashback and Boba isn't really in the show in the present. In facts, if Ahsoka really does appear, it could be both.

I can't shake the feeling that something is off with the reports on these two characters... see my earlier comments about not thinking Olyphant was Vanth.

Two things come to mind with all of this: First, it seems VERY likely we are returning to Tatooine and second, I am looking forward to Season 2 more than ever now!

Or THR just got their wires crossed after seeing Temura’s return and spy photos of boba’s armour and made a logical conclusion.

I don’t want Boba back. Let the Sarlaac win. Just give me Rex.

With that said I’m slightly disappointed the Olyphant is being somewhat typecast. I’m sure he’ll knock out the role regardless of whether it’s a 20 second cameo or a more substantial role.

 

Very interesting choice to adapt this minor character from the books. Makes me want to read all the parts pertaining to him.

Does this mean we’ll see the baby hutt? Perhaps that’s a reason Vanth was chosen for the show - so they could introduce another cute alien baby. Also will Malaki appear?

I’d guess Morrison plays Rex through most of S2, and not Fett until the very end.

Rumor is Fett has a very small scene that works more as a setup for S3 - my guess is said scene is the real Fett showing up and taking back the amor with force. I think Vanth is a 1-season and done character personally.

I wouldn't be surprised if Favreau pitched the idea of Fett returning, everyone was for it but then Filoni stuck his hand up and said, 'But guys, there's this novel trilogy that says a dude called Vanth is wearing Fett's armour at this point in the timeline. We're going to have to figure out a way to acknowledge that.'

Favreau: That sounds needlessy complicated for the sake of a couple books. We could just do a retcon?

Filoni: Nah, we're not doing that.

 

My best guess is that Boba recoverd from his injuries in Jabbas Palace,and after he is back in good shape he is going to get his armor back.

 

I know this is a spoiler thread, but anybody miss the good old days when you didn't have to know every detail 6 months in advance.
Casting info is cool, but plot details being leaked is a bit much, although I'm guilty as well posting links.
Sorry, just venting, I know, no one is holding a gun to my head to read spoiler threads.

I just read the healines and just go off my speculation. I don't read the whole thing that's what the show is for.

 

If I recall he appears in 3 snippets one in each book which are called interludes in the book. He basically chased the rest of the “major” crime off Tatooine and also created an “alliance” with the sand people

 

Seems mando season 1 followed though that as Tatooine seems mostly empty with the scum and villainy gone.

 

If there's a mysterious corpse lying out in the desert the Sheriff is probably going to go check it out and bury it.

 

If I hear 'Freetown' in this I'm going to puke.

 

I mean they name dropped "Life Day" in the first episode.
