I dont think its just Perrin to blame, Mon Mothma too, like in normal parenting. Mother and father both has a rile in parenting their child. So far i see Mon not being antentive to her daughter.

Maaaaaaaaan!!! This show friggin' ruuuuuuuuuules!!!! Loved this episode! So many amazing bits of dialogue and character moments in this one. [face_party]

Apparently overbearing Jewish mothers are a thing in Star Wars! Ha! Loved all the scenes with Karn and his mother. His mother infantilizing him by serving him sugary breakfast cereal and belittling him was great. Seems like Karn is going to focus all of his rage at Andor. Looking forward to seeing how that plays out.

All the tension between the rebel group is amazing. Loved all the character moments between them all. Loved seeing how passionate the nerdy rebel guy is for the cause. It's going to be a real bummer when he probably dies.

The tension between tattooed guy and Andor was great too. Also thought it was funny seeing Andor low key flirting with Vel's girlfriend and seeing Vel get annoyed by it.

The Mon Mothma family dynamic is really something. Her husband and kid seem terrible. This poor woman is trying to make the galaxy a better place and she's stuck with a bratty daughter and a-hole husband.

Loved the scene with Dedra and her assistant. "It's too random to be random." Loved that line. I'm weirdly rooting for Dedra to succeed? What's up with that?
@Master Jedi Fixxxer, Oh, I loved "it's too random to be random!" But yes, "everybody has their own rebellion was great as was a lot of the dialogue in this episode.

Fredrik, did you not notice the smile on her husband's face when their daughter was being rude? He's clearly enjoying it which is just all kinds of ****** up. This is not about Mon being an absentee mother. He's just an ******* who is using their daughter as ammunition.

Oh I agree her husband is an etlist jerk, but you also got scene with them in the car where he is respectful to her. I need to see more, but for now i see both parents in Bad lights regarding their daughter.

You mean the scene where he refuses to humanize their driver again?

Right. That scene doesn't make him look any better than any of the other scenes he's been in.

He ask the driver what his name is and she awnsers, and he ask the driver where to go. The has worse scene in dinner scene. Like Star Wars explained said he gets little plus for me there.

Mon knows the driver is a spy meant to control her and yet she still shows him the dignity of asking her husband to call him by his name.

That was great when she told him she hadn't bothered letting him know about her new effort, which she didn't think he would be interested in because it was charitable.

Exactly. He has to ask because he's never taken the time to learn the man's name himself. In other words... he's piece of ****.

Honestly, it's more like we, the fans, are a bit insane, and we are going to let our imagination fly over every single line of dialogue, even when it is just a casual exchange thrown in there in order to make a point about the tense relationship between two characters.
I think that normal viewers had no expectations about the dinner.

FWIW the title of this week's episode, which also appears as a spoken line of dialog in the episode, is a real life old Shona proverb.

    Chinokanganwa idemo, chitsiga hachikanganwe

"The axe forgets, the tree remembers".

It means that one who comes into another's life and inflicts harm on them and then goes on about their way will soon forget it, whereas the one who was dealt the harm will remember it for the rest of their life, it may indeed become the defining moment of their life.

Another well known pop-culturey version of the same approximate idea, is the infamous Chun-Li - M.Bison exchange from the cheesy 90s SF movie, to wit:

I saw it as him trying to be better, asking for his name instead of just calling him ‘driver’. Something which people who don’t care would do.

The scene where he's being a jerk?
They seemed to be on the way home from it in the scene where he was a jerk.
Granted, that was confusing, since it seemed that it would be at their home last episode.

And that's not to say she is a terrible person at being a parent, it's just she's not perfect, far from great, because she is forced into Imperial politics and wants to spend her time making change for the galaxy at the expense of family.

As for the episode, it seemed it would do another buildup once I read the intro. I can see where many on her are 'perturbed' because of the lack of action and movement in plot. I for one was at least looking forward to a Sly Moore dinner party and the start of the raid on the outpost but...patience.

'I really liked character dynamics in this episode, and seeing the distrust amongst the team on Aldhani is a welcome contrast to the familiar "family" dynamics we've seen in the OT or on Rebels. We definitely get a better sense of everyone's investment in the mission as opposed to Cassian's mercenary mindset. His early conversation with Arvel was definitely the strongest scene of the episode'

I agree, a down to earth feel for the Rebels. Good stuff. I would like a little more pizzaz to them but hey, this is how they start.
All the other subplots where great and I look forward to see where they go.

Right. As Dedra says, they “don’t climb over the same fence twice.” And if it was truly random, they would from time to time.
There seem to be clusters of events with similarities (Imperial stuff stolen), and each cluster may be a case file. Dedra lists off 5 or 6 distinct events just while giving examples, which implies there’s more. So if the number of cases is high, the non-random randomness assessment could be sound.
    Many here don’t seem perturbed.

At the 1:49 mark of one of the teaser trailers, there seems some kind of dinner party going on, unless the scene didn’t get past the cutting room floor.

Same! Not a single action scene in the whole episode and yet the episode was filled with tension in every plotline. Great stuff!
The slow pace creates so much anticipation and gives room for conflict and character development along the way. Can't get enough of it.
This is hands down the most I've enjoyed Star Wars in years. Easily my favorite episode of the season.
