I didn’t see it so I don’t know what happened in the last set- I hope Tiafoe didn’t get injured and was just exhausted.

I didn't see it either. Always hoping people don't get injured.

To think it was like this for Americans almost every year once upon a time.

it didn't look like he was hurt to me, just gassed midway through the fourth set. kyrgios called it perfectly on the broadcast, down to the exact point (a long rally). started to have big troubles with his serve and was getting overly aggressive to end points quicker, which led to errors. was having success early in the match by extending points and reyling on fritz's mistakes.

sabalenka just rules the hard surface atm. four of four slam finals made over the last two years, and won three of them.

hope she'll break through at roland garros or wimbledon next year.

    Tennis legend Nadal confirms retirement

Rafael Nadal, the 22-time Grand Slam champion, will retire from tennis at the end of this season.

The 38-year-old will make his final appearance for Spain at November’s Davis Cup Finals in Malaga.

In a video message released on Thursday, Nadal said: "I am here to let you know I am retiring from professional tennis.

"The reality is that it has been some difficult years, the last two especially.

"I don't think I have been able to play without limitations."

This match between Medvedev and a complete unknown has been riveting. They both have one set!

    That's #5 vs #418 ranking if you're wondering.

a healthy and in-form naomi osaka being coached by mouratoglou is going to be exciting to watch. would love to see her back at the top, one of my favorites.

    great upset win tonight.

Djokovic takes out Alcaraz again, this time in the AO quarterfinals, despite what looked like a potentially serious injury. It quickly became another trademark Djokovic rope-a-dope. Now he has to beat Zverev and presumably Sinner to get to the trophy.

zverev looked shaky at times last night, caught most of that one. was fighting with the officials and throwing tantrums in the second set.

    i think it's sinner's time, although he's been having heat/fatigue issues too.

Djokovic had to withdraw due to injury against Zverev. One of the few times I was rooting for him too, typical.

Shelton had a great first set but couldn't repeat the effort in the second and third sets. What looked like it was going to be an epic battle after a 1 hour first set was then over in 2 hours and 36 minutes.

Now the final is going to be tall and lanky vs taller and lankier.
