I like that it’s unresolved. Plus, Maarva finally told him. She couldn’t have survived. Don’t think she would’ve just made that up.

I feel like if its not resolved it makes the whole flashback meaningless. And Maarva cant know Only suspect as she never returned back to look.

With so many other spinning plates to manage in season 2, I don't think it makes sense to loop back in Cassian's search for his sister into this. It was frankly never even needed in season 1. The whole issue was just basically dropped.

Then they should never have done the flashbacks the show starts with him searching for his sister. Maybe Tony Gilroy tried something and didnt work

Not necessarily. In many ways Andor is a tragic character, always searching for something he will never find - peace, his sister, freedom, safety for his friends and family, fulfilment, belonging.

The flashbacks aren’t meaningless at all. His sister and his mother are his family, and they keep him away from seeking a broader belonging in a movement, like the rebellion. He then loses his mother, and learns that his sister is gone. And so now the stage is set for him to join the rebellion.

Plus he could very well lose Bix, his unrequited love for so long, finally returned, I just can't see that there will be a happy ending for the them. Adding to the tragedy of Cassian and the similarities with the character James Bond.

There will be a post-credits scene. The Death Star has just lasered Scarif and the gun control team are sitting down to lunch. One of the Stormtroopers on an adjacent table calls across 'Hey Kerri! What do i have to do to get your job? Pressing a button there, pulling a lever there, top pay for limited effort!'.

Yup. And I think it will add a whole new incredibly tragic layer to his relationship with Jyn.

Are these clips official? I am watching on a train (a Shinkansen to be precise) but it looked like something was off with the lip syncing?

    I'm guessing that it's Tay.

Yes, I think you're right. That makes more sense than Krennic, especially given the "I've known him all my life" and "people will fail" lines. I wonder why Tay pestering Sculden would be a security threat to Mon, though. I guess we'll find out. It sounds, though, as if Tay (if that is indeed who it is) is trying to extort Sculden and/or Mon, with Luthen clearly implying Tay may have to be taken out.

I would also like some closure on that storyline, what the kenari mining disaster entailed and more on the craft that crashed. It's a huge plotline to just drop and not return to ...

    Is it?
Seems more like background-detail to me. The sort of stuff you mention to give a bit more depth, without having the need to explain it further. It plays no role in the actual plot of the early episodes.

Unless Cassian's sister is essential to one of the arcs, that tidbit seems entirely irrelevant to what will go on in the show, which is the formation of the rebellion in the run-up to Rogue One.

    It's Andors underlying motivation
..it's not a problem just something to make the beginning of the show more important..a mention of her will do

Promotion is ramping up now that the premiere is less than a week out. I'm getting excited.

I'm not sure what others plan to do but I'm thinking I'll skip watching it Tuesday (my time zone isn't premiere night friendly) and binge watch all three episodes sometime Wednesday morning. I'll likely follow the same pattern for the rest of the season.

It’s not Andor’s underlying motivation. It was simply an objective he had that kept him from moving on with his life and doing something meaningful. And that objective first got thrown off the rails by his killing of the two corpos, and later by Maarva telling him his sister’s dead. That’s it. They really do not need to explore it any further. Cassian’s old family is gone, and now he’s committed to his new family, the Rebellion.

Without that impetus he would not have
I get what you're saying but at least a little footnote or mention of her would be nice.. we are nothing without our past

Nice shot in that, at :03, of Dedra pointing a pistol in what appears likely to be
    Luthen's antiquities shop.

Including a spoiler tag here only out of an abundance of caution for all those who would like to avoid any speculation.

I like the way it’s been handled so far. Everything in this show happens organically and free of any structure that a screenplay usually adheres to -

Cassian just happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time simply because he was snooping around investigating his sister who may or may not be actually related to the story in any meaningful way and it gets ball rolling

He participates in this crazy bank robbery and instead of getting arrested there he’s nabbed for something totally unrelated by coincidence and the empire spends all this time trying to find him when he’s already in captivity

He gets a call that his mother died instead of him rushing home and having this melodramatic scene of him at her bedside

Makes it feel more “real” and almost like a biopic when there’s no any rhyme or reason to everything
