It was kind of a big deal in one of the best episodes of The Mandalorian.

That wasn't really facial recognition though, that was showing proof of "a face". It didn't matter that the face was not one from a registered Imperial.

My explanation for a lot of things is: the galaxy is really big and stuff doesn't always work good.

I had to go back and rewatch the HBO movie Conspiracy. It's about the Wannsee Conference where the Nazi planned out The Final Solution. The scene in Andor is a mirror of this conference and is absolutely chilling. It's one thing to feel the implied parallels between WWII and the Empire, and another to have it so clearly illustrated. Kudos to Mr. Gilroy to going to that historical reference and confirming the Nazi/Empire comparison, in my mind at least.

Saw the episode. Very good. But — it felt like a lot was crammed into one episode. And the cutting between Cassian, Mothma and Krennic/Dedra/Partagaz was a little — discombobulating. I felt the scenes needed a bit more room to breathe. But then again it’s condensing a mini season into 3 episodes right?

Did anyone else get, "you need Ghorman rebels you can depend on to do the wrong thing," to be a direct reference to the way Israel propped up Hamas?

I mean, there is more than one historical example of that than this most recent one, but I definitely thought of it.

I also took it as a warning… of what could be the strategy of a certain government in the near future… but as you say this strategy is very much used in a lot of conflicts and situations so… who knows! I would like to see it as a cautionary tale: beware of what could happen and prepare for that!

I thought of it more as Dedra learning a lesson from Ferrix. A rebel uprising on Ghorman, real or manufactured, will make it possible for the Empire to drop the hammer on them and claim justification. It's Luthen's entire strategy, too. He wants the Empire's over reactions to light an even more intense fire of rebellion in the galaxy, while Dedra expects the Empire's swift justice to quelch it.

    So basically Luthen is Sinwar?

Yep, the “energy independence” part. We just need a bit more about deporting “aliens” and maybe a Make the Galaxy Great Again logo.

One of things I am always impressed by, is how, at times, the world of SW animation and live action feel seamless. The opening sequence, from the hangar, tie fighter and authorization cylinder, I wouldn't have been surprised to see Agent Kallus. I don't know if that is kudos to the production, the excellence of SW animation, or of the commitment of everyone who plays in the world of SW entertainment to the small things. After 50 years, no matter who the creators are, it only takes a glance to know you are in the GFFA.

I was thinking that he exact same thing as I was watching this, this reminds me of the movie conspiracy! Even down to the little breaks that they were taking just walking around, eating hors d'oeuvres, casually talking about how they're going to erase an entire group of people. They captured the banality of evil really perfectly in these scenes.

    Watched this tonight.

Gave it a solid 8 out of 10.

Fun action sequences, but my favorite scenes were the ones on Chandrila and with the Imperials plotting strategy at the end.

The only thing I didn't like was Cassian being captured after stealing the Tie prototype. Having him escape danger only to be put right back into danger..... Felt a little like they weren't sure what to do with Cassian while the rest of the episode was going on.... Other than that, great episode.

Yes, I liked it. Andor's my favorite SW show, the only drawback is the one it shares with all prequels, namely that we know how it's going to end for Cassian. That said, Rogue One's my favorite SW movie after TOS, and Cassian's possibly my favorite SW character right after Han Solo (in TOS at least). I like the morally ambiguous types who decide to do the right thing, apparently.

My biggest gripe with the episode is that there are too many simultaneous plots, makes the episode feel a bit jumpy.

Only just got around to seeing this the other day. A solid 8/10. Could have got more if there wasn't so much mumbling. Some lines that were delivered neither me or my wife could understand what was just said. Maybe I'll watch it again - with subtitles (or a hearing aid!)
