I still feel the lack of aliens in this show they are just in the background not any Alien characters they focus on

I don't see any evidence that they LIVE at the shop. In fact, I think I remember at least one scene of Kleya clearly closing up the shop and leaving for the night in season 1.

Understood, but forefront alien characters would be inconsistent with the show's grounded tone.

IIRC, Luthen said he had to use the Cassian/Bix once or twice. This suggests he lives somewhere other than the shop.

In this most recent trio of episodes it did sort of look like Luthen was awaken by Cassian’s visit to the shop. Luthen entered the shop from a side door, not from back room. I got a hint he entered from personal quarters. I didn’t get that feeling from the show before then. Then again he could have been working late in another room. We’ll see.

There were several episodes in season 1 and 2 they were both awakened at night in the shop I believe it's an apartment adjacent to the shop not literally in the shop may be above it.

I disagree alien would feel off in a grounded show. This is still a fantasy universe.

I'll throw my hat in with the "disappointed in Bail's recast" group. When Mon says: "Senator Organa.." I was like, alright! I knew Bail had to make an appearance at some point! Then I was like "who's this guy?" Nothing against Benjamin Bratt I would have just preferred the consistency of the same actor especially as I'll be watching R1 when this season is finished. I'll get over it tho, it's not really that big of a deal when you think about it.

You've gotta be kidding me. The precedent for CGI and NOT recasting was already set. Tony Gilroy should never be allowed near this franchise again.

KK suggested recast so its KK that has been behind recast and deepfake cgi.

This isn't directed at you, but this is a case of Kennedy being clueless as always. How can you contradict your own policy? Scheduling conflicts has got to be the weakest and laziest excuse I have ever heard. The Hobbit films managed to accommodate a 90-year old Christopher Lee because they knew getting the detail right is important. Either be competent and find creative solutions to problems or let someone else run the show.

I think Chandrilan society is fairly insular in general— plus, I don't think Mon wanted to subject her friends to a tradition she disapproves of.

Regarding recasts, no matter how I feel about individual cases, I prefer to avoid deepfakes. I don't like the precedent they set and I'm glad we're walking away from it. I do not want to see Jimmy Smits with a CGI face and an AI voice.

Alright it’s been fun* mulling over a 10 second appearance for 8 pages (not really), but other things did actually happen in this episode.

In other words, time to bail on the Bail conversation. If you’re really passionate about this subject, we have a deepfaking/recasting thread around here.

You mean like almost every Star Wars show?
And what if my brother walked into the room with digital skin, or as a poorly-lit puppet? Would that be any less unsettling?

No only Andor so far the others shows has had mix of aliens that is background but also focus. Andor is human focused like the ST and OT. Since the Prequels we had more alien focus and i wish we had more Alien focus.

I don't know what you mean by "focus." There have been aliens with speaking roles in Andor S1 and S2, so far. Is that what you mean by focus? Or something else? If you don't define your terms, it's hard to know what you're talking about.

And this season in Andor, the alien reciting the loyalty oath in the Senate chambers was literally the focus of that scene, as he was standing on the central platform. And the camera stayed with him for some time. Cool alien, by the way.

How is the PT anymore alien “focused” than the OT or ST? I honestly have no idea what you’re talking about.

The loyalty oath was a gut punch. Palpy has definitely reoriented the galaxy in his small time as Emperor.

Not that small a time; he's been Emperor for a decade and a half, and chancellor for years before that.

It's a galaxy. A decade or two is a pretty small thing.

Seeing all the senators enthusiastically repeating word for word the Oath-keeper's lines... chilling.

By now, people like Mon are the minority there. Its all Imperial puppets.

And you really do get the sense that Palpatine is largely never seen in public, and how some would even believe that there's a shadow government doing the evil and not himself directly. Even now, decades later, his Clone Wars hero image still lingers.

    Incredibly cool!
The Oathkeeper is one of my favorite lore-additions from the season so far.

It's like George's original concept where the Emperor was a puppet of the bureaucrats. Very cool how Palpatine has used variations of that story toward his own ends. It's not too different a narrative from what he used to discredit Valorum in The Phantom Menace.
