Episode 7 really should have released in May of 2017 for the 40th anniversary. Though now I think about it, assuming that Carrie Fisher still passes away when she did in real life, they still would have had to probably kill off or write out Leia in between movies or do the CGI thing like TROS. All things considered, I think Jyn and Cassian are actually the easiest characters for bring back from the dead if they really wanted too.
in terms of plausibility Here are the resurrections that are easiest to do Palpatine and the OT4(Anakin, Luke, Han, and Leia) and they are together for a good reason(Palpatine wanting to resurrect them to make them suffer) supreme leader Snoke jyn and Cassian And arguably Yoda and Kenobi due to the first draft of ROTJ
I'm happy for more Ventress in this timeline... but Bane is a disappointment. I hope the actual stories are good, but it seems there's always one storyline that's much better than the other (Dooku's episodes > more Ahsoka episodes, Barriss episodes > Morgan Elsbeth episodes). I'd rather have someone from a different "sector" of the underworld... like Qi'ra. Is there a chance either of these will take us into New Republic times? "Tales of the New Republic" are what I'm looking forward too... or "Tales" between TPM and AOTC, or animated Big 3 between the OT movies.
I preferred the Dooku stuff to Ahsoka’s in Jedi, because the latter felt like padding and offered me nothing new for the character (and that’s without getting into the book controversy). But I was pretty happy with both protagonists of Empire. Barriss had the more emotional arc (The Way Out is incredible), but I also got something from the Morgan episodes. I think maybe the final episode was a bit limp, but the Dathomir and Thrawn episodes were informative from a character and lore angle. My hot take with Underworld is, I’m glad Ventress is in this because it means the next ongoing series won’t be dedicated to her. Nothing against the character, but I’m hoping the next show is in a different era. Of the two arcs both looking interesting but....I think in general if you’re going to offer me an arc from the POV of a hero or the POV of a villain, I’m more curious about the latter. They don’t often do that with the onscreen storytelling, so I’ll eat it up here.
Do you want to suck away all the power and drama from the ending of R1? Turn it into just another plain vanilla action/adventure movie with no emotional heart to it? Cuz that's how you do it.
The new Tales episodes are out. Timeline wise i think Assajj Ventress episodes are during Kenobi/Survivor. Spoiler New upgrade animation for Quinlan Vos makes him look like a Indian native jedi, rather then surfer dude and i love it. Hope the teases we got of Quinlan Vos and the Path means we can get an animated show with surviving Jedi. I dont think animation will leave dark times anytime soon. After Maul we got The Path and Clone Rebellion as the two remaining plot threads in this era.
They really Spoiler revealed that Cad Bane's actual name was COLBY. This will always make me chuckle. But yeah. I thought it was pretty weak. By far the weakest Tales entry. And that's saying something, when Empire was already a big stepdown from Jedi. Posted my full spoiler review on the TV-forum, but I guess those of you that hated Dark Disciple will probably like it, since this felt like Filoni just reacting and walking back on everything about that story. So much for respecting George's vision, I guess. Though that train is long gone.
I think the path might be appear in the Maul show. Maul is, at his heart, a jedi hunter, and he's also been trying to get his own apprentice (Savage in CW, Ezra in Rebels, and to a lesser extend Kira), so he might be hunting force-sensitives on the side
Might see the Path but i think we get a path show in future with Quinlan Vos and Assajj Ventress. Maul show is 1 year after Clone Wars and we know Quinlan Vos is operating close to the Rebellion era with Rebels and Andor.
Spoiler -I see we are sticking with the general pattern of one redemption arc and one corruption arc...well, vaguely, admittedly both move less than usual and Ventress in particular did her arc before, with this more a reaffirment than anything. -Kind of hard to place the Ventress ones. Them having OT style armor would be post Bad Batch, yet the ISDs were referred to as "some kind of new ship" by Latts when Tarkin already had one at the end of TBB. Admittedly, it would take time to replace the entire fleet, but still seems a bit weird. Also, Ventress seems more beaten and focused on the war than in TBB, notably without her own ship or anything. Not something inexplicable but still feels a bit off to me. -I am surprised the kid is a new kid and not one of the ones from the clone wars. Feels like we see more jedi after the fall of the order than before, since most clone wars or earlier stuff tends to focus on the same handful of big name ones...makes me wonder what all these survivors and inquisitors were doing beforehand. -On that note, impressive showing from the inquistor, considering Ventress cross blades with top jedi like Anakin and Obi-Wan, and even beat notorious jedi killer Grievous one-on-one. -Liked the interactions between Ventress and the separatist veteran. Especially helping resolve the conflict over the water. Nice to see jedi doing some peacemaking and negotiation, especially in the shows which tend to be more action oriented. -Bane's arc felt like a combo of Western and Gangster Movie, rather appropriate given his look and occupation. -A lot of police forces seem pretty heavy on the droids -Looks like Cad Bane isn't from an orbital city like in legends, unless they put a lot of effort into having a fake sky. -"You don't have to kill him" "That isn't up to me" I mean, blasters have stun settings so it kind of is. -I feel like blue has been the default duros color, but Bane and his son seem like the minority in this city compared to all the green duros -Bane really finding out revenge is a sucker's game. No wonder he is only focused on money later. -Should be fun to see Isaac pop up again in about 20 years or so. I am curious what direction that kid took his life in. Revenge? Police work? Bounty hunting? Or just living a peaceful life? -Overall enjoyed both. Preferred the Bane half but I can understand why someone might prefer the other.
That kid doesn't seem like he's going anywhere, so I would put it after (except for the first scene, obviously).
Yes from OT Storm troopers and so i think this is close to Kenobi era. So she has already met the Bad Batch and Omega. And i dont think Path existed then during Bad Batch
There is a like a ten year gap. Honestly, it makes sense that stormtrooper armor was introduced in different areas as they phased out the TK armor so I'd place it at about 17 BBY
I've only seen the first three episodes with Ventress so far, but good grief. I'm one of those that hated Dark Disciple, but I'm not sure if this is any better.... Spoiler Seriously, Talzin had barely said two sentences before Ventress was revived! Talzin: Welcome home, Asajj. You're dead. You want to change that? Ventress: What does it cost? Talzin: Your true lov-- Ventress: DONE. *runs* Talzin: ...she didn't wait to hear the fine print... Like I hated the Ventress/Vos romance and all, but I'm not even sure what this was! Like I know the book was based on a canceled story arc and all, but had the story arc ended the same way as the book originally? Did they always plan for Ventress to be revived in the end? Or is this something they tacked on later, so they could keep her alive for other shows? I didn't dislike these episodes, but they seemed to lack... pizzazz or something. Razzi and Highsinger were neat in action, but their plot didn't go much of anywhere. I guess it was meant to show that Ventress had more loyalty than them and further her redemption, but it wasn't exactly thrilling. Same as saving the desert farmers. It sort of felt like watching Asajj go on some side quests far below her grade level.
Most certainly not. The story of Dark Disciple came from George himself, and it was very George, with the romance and pure SW redemption and death by the end. As we know, George wanted most of TCW's original characters dead by the end it, and this was most definitely intended to be Ventress' conclusion. I mean, her character arc was complete. She came full circle. There was nothing really to be done with the character after that, which is why these Tales shorts pretty much walked back on it and regressed the character in favor of artificial "development" and this nothingburger, irrelevant, tacked on "story." She was created for Clone Wars, her organic place in the narrative was there, that's where she was relevant and most potent, when her story was actually important and related to things that mattered in relation to her character and Star Wars at large. Everything after is just forced, pointless, inorganic, and feels like fanfiction. And I really, really doubt that Lucas would ever allow such arbitrary, nonsensical resurrections, because they go completely against the themes of Star Wars, go completely against the ending of Dark Disciple itself, and contradict the entire cosmology of the setting. Yes, Lucas brought Maul back, but he had him survive his injuries - from the narrative standpoint, he never died to begin with, he was not revived from the dead. Because revivals are impossible. Only a few Jedi could preserve their consciousness after death, after being chosen for that and training for that. That's it. Revival by definition implies preserving consciousness after death and the "soul" returning from the Netherworld of the Force into the dead body. And Maul was also barely a character and completely wasted potential, compared to Ventress, who had her entire character arc fully fleshed out and complete. It's like if someone decided to resurrect Anakin Skywalker all of the sudden after ROTJ so that we could have him on another generic protect the quirky kid adventure #150 and see him cut down some First Order stormtroopers, or something. This is what this whole thing feels like. And Ventress' nonsensical resurrection also implies that Mother Talzin is not fully dead, she can also somehow preserve her consciousness after death, and she can resurrect people like Ventress, who had been dead for months, from beyond the grave, somehow. The whole thing was so ridiculously stupid and vague and came completely out of nowhere, it's hilarious. Mother Talzin not being fully dead also undermines Son of Dathomir, makes no sense, and her being able to do that is the most ridiculous thing in Star Wars, by far. Who's to say she can't resurrect herself? She probably will, for Ahsoka S2 or Filoni's movie, or whatever, because he needs all the characters that can be mined for nostalgia. It's impressive how many stories and characters have been undermined and ruined in just two minutes. It's hilarious, how Filoni just keeps undoing George's stories and decisions: Jango an Boba are now Mandalorians; pacifist Mandalorians are entirely memoryholed; beskar exists, even though the whole reason Lucas created the Darksaber was because he did not like the idea of a vibroblade, i.e. regular sword made out of material completely invulnerable to lightsabers; Ventress lives and she cannot have a relationship with Quinlan Vos anymore because of some arbitrary magical restraining order, literally; Cad Bane survived getting shot in the head, when he was meant to obviously be killed by Boba in TCW; nightsisters were all wiped out, but fret not - here is a bunch of them in another galaxy, and they come back to Dathomir, again; the whole deal with Ahsoka outliving the entire cast of Star Wars all the way into the sequel era; Maul getting killed on Tatooine, regressed to wanting revenge on Obi-Wan again, even though he was supposed to be the villain of the ST era. There is probably more. Just keeps running these stories and characters into the ground, IMO. I wish The Clone Wars had been properly finished as intended, and these stories and characters were just left alone.
