Watching Andor is especially immersive in the States right now. It's like you're really there!

Too immersive. That’s why I said I might fly back. ;) I look a lot like Cassian. I might not make it past customs this time!

The simple thing I spose would be just to do each 3 episode "block" as a separate "film", maybe a bit of re editing to make them flow together better but really I think they work dramatically pretty well, that would probably give you something about 2-2 1/2 hours each wouldnt it?

Would fit in with Disney actually wanting more of a return as well rather than just numbers on Disney+, people who might own season 1 on disk but not being Disney+ viewers although honestly they would probably get plenty of the latter as well.

If they did a cinema re-release over four months say, I'd go for sure.

I for sure CAN’T fly back… I am pretty sure I won’t make it past customs and I do not need a two weeks stay in a deportation center before my country is able to bring me back in the real land of the free… so I just hope they will release in Europe also!

The thing that gives me pause is that there was an episode of The Mandalorian, (The Spies, episode) where they seemed to be trying to ape Andor and boy howdy was that episode god awful, just the worst. I'm worried that if somebody was try and do an Andor like show what we'd end up with is something more like The Spies.

It woundt be as great maybe but be a good show. The Corucant episode of The Mandalorian was good.

We're going to have to agree to disagree about The Spies episode. Woof! That was bad.

I think in itself its a pretty well done episode, doesn't fit that well with the rest of the show perhaps but I'm guessing thats why they made it a stand alone rather than a B/C-plot.

I would argue Obi Wan is perhaps a better advert of an Andor like tone but without as good material. I liked it reasonably well but character wise its definitely more limited and fills like its driven more by the plot, maybe as a product of the shift to a much longer series?

An Andor like OT era show isnt something which would be easy certainly but I think it definitely is something with a lot of potential to be good. You could take a few existing characters but you'd likely need to come up with strong new ones although really I don't see that as a disadvantage, you can create characters who's drama naturally plays into the story more.

The core concept of that episode only suffered from two things - that we left the Mando story when it was red-hot, and that the execution just didn't get what needed to be added, emphasized, or obscured to make the tension and character work interesting.

Kane was too obvious and too flat, or not contrasted enough with more deep but still malevolent Imps. Pershing was sympathetic but too naive and basic, or not contrasted enough with a more savvy ex-Imp. The story was both too obvious to be surprising and too quick and shallow to be tense. The New Republic *and* the Imps were a bit too stupid, since neither had to be clever for the story to work.

It was a filler cartoon episode shot in live action. I might have worked in TCW as a one off... but it sort of just heightened the issue with how The Mandalorian sometimes doesn't have the patience for nuance, tension, or mundanity, and sometimes jumps to "simple is best!" a bit too quickly.

In contrast... Syril is sort of how I think some of the Mandos should have been played in Season 3 against Din, just more competent at violence; Mandos have enough fascist-leaning historical factions and ethos that some of the warriors we met should have been guys Din would have to fight for super dumb reasons that would be wrapped up in a psychological identity dripping with denial and problematic politics.

I have noticed that many actors from season 1 didnt come back in season 2 to play their characters. Maybe cause of the strikes and such Tony Gilroy mentioned as mutch. No Blevin, no Yularen and Jimmy smith were not available

All the main actors returned, Bail wasn't in the first season. Andy Serkis hasn't returned so far but we don't know whether Kino Loy was ever meant to be in following seasons, Blevin was a failure after Ferrix, Dedra walked all over him to get promoted so again was he really ever going to return? Yularen was only a very brief guest appearance, an Easter Egg, the main antagonists have always been Dedra, Paragaz and Syril. Once the reintroduced Krennic, was there room for Yularen up to now?

I think if Tony Gilroy could get the actor we would have had Yularen and not just gotten mentions of him. Sure you could come up with explanations but it seems like we would have gotten more Yularen and Blevin.

I think what worked against that episode the most - apart from the stupidity shown by some characters - was the bloody awful editing. The different storylines were just badly patched together. They started off with the Mandalorians for a short time, then had almost the entire episode on Coruscant, before heading back for the end. That simply didn't work at all. It was as if they just spliced in a different show for half an hour.

The concept of the episode was a great one, it's just that the execution fell way short of what it could have been. It could have been such a nice binding-tissue between the OT and the ST, delivering part of the internal undermining of the Republic that was going on, and which was implied but not shown well enough in the ST.

Season 2 Ep. 7, 8, and 9 of Andor were way better than the sequel trilogy's 7,8, and 9.:p

Well its Tony Gilroy who planned it and its not as important as the main saga for Disney and Bob Iger. But i argue The Last Jedi is up there with Andor, like Empire Strikes Back.

I wonder what revelations will occur, or events that happen to change our perception of Rogue One...? I know both TG and DL have said that we will want to watch RO the minute we finish season 2.
