I think it is for me too. It’s just so unique, so hard to pull off, and so perfectly done. And it hits you in the feels multiple times.

Yeah its right up there for sure. I'm not sure I can split 2.08, 2.09 and 2.10 - they make one heck of a back to back to back.

And on re-watch you really see that as soon as Mothma is getting ready to make the speech and then does, Luthen knows his time is almost over. Andor wants to get him off world because the noose is tightening and Luthen's response clearly shows he knows it. So it isn't suprising in the time between eps 9 and 10 Luthen and Kleya have done everything they can to make sure the rebellion is 'out there' and secure. He knows his time is just about up and in the conversation mentioned on the last page where they are talking about Lonni wanting to meet somewhere other than normal and so urgently, they know the jig is up.

I was wondering the same thing. Hope to get some answers on this from Lucasfilm. That second location with the old Byzantine-era looking structures, where the firing squad happens and their chat afterwards, is particularly gorgeous. I want to know where it was filmed. Looks like either central Italy or Spain to me. Maybe the Balkans.

Yes looks amazing. If he is from naboo it would make sense he'd take kleya there

I suspect it's Montserrat in Catalonia, Spain, where they also filmed the "traditional wedding hike" scenes for Leida's wedding.

Xatvia in Spain s where the firing squad is shot I wonder if planets like chandrilla and alderaan where not hit as hard as others due to their exalted status in galaxy. I get the feeling they got away with a lot til the end.
They could have used numerous locations for naboo as I think it's more varied geologically than other star wars planets

They shot a lot in Spain. The Senate Offices and outdoor fountains, and numberous apt complexes were all shot there.

I think the idea is that the Empire was doing lots of mining projects and evil **** to 'unnoticed' or unimportant planets. We saw this in S1, where Andor's home planet, which looked South American, or even indigenous American, were being attacked and stripped mined for its resources. The galaxy, for the most part, over looked this. Although people like Mon were obviously trying to stop it in their limited way and weren't largely supported. Its when the Empire started attacking Ghorman and other more connected planets, or planets that were part of the economy and trading, that it became all too much. That's when the support for the Rebellion increased.

But by then the Empire had a taste for this kind of thing. And that's when they freely and wantonly started blowing up Jedha, and then Alderraan. And that's why they also dissolved the Senate. They had no need for it any longer.

I want to say Luthen’s been confirmed as from Fondor, from some piece of official merch or reference book or something.

He can have a mixed heritage though, like Erskin.

Although artifacts from Naboo can be explained just by upper class buyers being generally interested in the Emperor's home planet's culture.

But but Andor not in it?? It certainly is great but the whole 7-12 is... they are a whole and can't split them. The whole thing is just Twenty four segments of a glorious whole...and then the attachment pieces; rogue one and a new hope- from when the anvil tolls in episode 10...it's a non stop ride to 1977 and a five year old me sitting transfixed going forward in time maybe a week but for myself going back in time

Writer Tom Bissell confirmed that Luthen and Kleya's bombing of the bridge was on Naboo, and that he specifically lobbied Gilroy for it to occur there. He says it's Luthen's first act of terrorism against the Empire, specifically choosing Palpatine's home world.

This interview with Bissell is really good all around.

While it's not the real-world location they used, it's an interesting connection: Montellian Sarat is the capital of Devaron and the item Luthen is selling in the firing squad scene is Davaronian.

Another brilliant bit about the backstory is that Kleya’s trauma starts with a radio. She starts listening to a radio frequency that she couldn’t control (broadcasting the massacre of her family), and ends up controlling a whole lot of radio frequencies for the rebellion. She turned the object of her trauma into a weapon. She turned the thing that broadcast her helplessness into a thing that would give her significant power to get back at the institution that destroyed her life.
