Andor Andor Season 2 Discussion (Spoliers Allowed)

I never considered Vader or Leia as fan service, as they are part of the story. One could say they were an essential bridge from RO to ANH. Why else would i be setting aside enough time now to watch Andor, RO, then AHN. Like LotR, they have become one story, that flawlessly chronicles iconic actions by heroes of the Rebellion.

 

Vader and Leia are both essential. Vader introduces light sabres and the force and in terms of connectiveness, we are about to see a blue light sabre from Obi-wan and the force with him and Luke, it is the next progression in the story.

Leia is about to become a central character replacing Andor, so we need to see who she is. Given her message is then almost straight away seen going to Obi-wan, after what happened with Vader, we know this is now levelling up to higher powers.

It’s brilliant.

I've never read Catalyst, I was wondering, anyone who's read it how it fits within Andor?

Catalyst follows the Erso's from the middle of the Clone Wars, to a couple years after ROTS. 21 BBY-17 BBY. The last time Krennic saw them before R1.
Saw appears, and goes into stuff related to the DS, but the Erso's don't know the full extent.

 

I thought it was an interesting story. We learn more about Lyra, Jyn's mum, and Galen himself during the course of the story.

So events in Catalyst and Andor don't contradict each other.

 

I've read it as well and it takes place prior to Andor. Cool backstory on how the Ersos' relationship with Saw, as well as Krennic and Galen's friendship.

 

On another note, this and Skeleton Crew have been superb offerings from Star Wars lately.

Sadly, the latter is kaput and the former has ended.

That, and The Book of Boba Fett were the best offerings in terms of non-Andor content... But they won't even acknowledge Boba Fett or the actor. Like, wha t?

I will give my full thoughts in the appropriate thread. But they really need to give things more than one season.

I mean, at least Andor was allowed to finish. Imagine if it didn't...

Andor did good in the Nielsen; best Disney+ debut since Ahsoka.

 

@Happy Sando Curious if you enjoyed season 2 more than season 1? I strongly suspect you would, given what I think I know about your Star Wars interests, but I’d be curious to test my assumption.

That would've made sense. And it's probably what they were thinking when they made Rogue One, in fact.

 

That's precisely what he is breathing. His lungs are severely damaged from years of exposure to rhydonium fumes. He uses a breathing apparatus because of that.

 

I saw a clip of Tony saying that there already was a K2 origin story in canon and he basically said “screw it, I’m not gonna let that stop me” which was shocking to me because in the past there’s been a lot of discussion on here any time one of the shows even implies something went down differently than portrayed in a book or comic, but I haven’t seen anyone mention it at all. Whatever the original source was must not’ve been very widely read.

Yes, I think that’s right. I don’t remember the details, but I read it summarized on the K-2SO wookieepedia page before. I think what we have now via Andor is probably a lot better.

 

Thanks for asking! I'm honestly kinda flattered. But I haven't watched it yet, for reasons various (some boring, some petty). I'll get around to it eventually, if only to see Ben Mendelsohn steal the show as he's inevitably likely to do. I will admit that, whilst I have managed to stay largely spoiler-free, some of the things I have heard about it don't exactly fill me with confidence. I'd like to be proven wrong, though. Context is everything an' all that.
