I believe 2003 was an incredible year for action movies. Off the top of my head, I can name:

    Bad Boys II
    Kill Bill: Volume I
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines
    The Last Samurai
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
    The Matrix Reloaded
    The Matrix Revolutions
    The Rundown

With those and many more in mind, if anyone would like to answer these questions:

    (1) What's your favorite action film of the year?
    (2) What's your least favorite action film of the year?
    (3) What's your favorite overall action sequence?
    (4) What's your favorite battle sequence (in terms of mass scales of induviduals involved)?
    (5) What's your favorite fight sequence (two or three people/hand to hand)?
    (6) What's your favorite chase sequence?

    Mine:
    (1) The Matrix Revolutions
    (2) Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle
    (3) The Battle of the Pelennor Fields (The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King)
    (4) The Battle of the Pelennor Fields (The Return of the King)
    (5) Neo (vs) Agent Smith (The Matrix Revolutions)
    (6) The Freeway Chase (The Matrix Reloaded)

    1) Return of the King
    (2) Matrix Reloaded
    (3) Pelennor Fields, of course
    (4) Pelennor Fields again
    (5) Jack Sparrow vs. Will Turner (The banter just makes it better)
    (6) The Bridge of Khazad-Dum (Fellowship of the Ring). Not 2003, but I consider it a chase sequence, and I can't think of any I really liked from 03 anyway

    (1) What's your favorite action film of the year? As far as good, fun, comedic action I'd have to go with Pirates, but as for dramatic action film, I'd have to go with The Last Samurai
    (2) What's your least favorite action film of the year? Matrix
    (3) What's your favorite overall action sequence? In PotC, Jack and Will's fight
    (4) What's your favorite battle sequence (in terms of mass scales of induviduals involved)? The end battle of The Last Samurai
    (5) What's your favorite fight sequence (two or three people/hand to hand)? Umm.. not sure
    (6) What's your favorite chase sequence? I'd say when the British soldiers are chasing Capt. Jack (right before his and Will's fight)

wouldn't ROTK be considered a fantasy film and not an action film?

with that out of the way, I don't think there were many great action flicks this year.

The only ones I can think of that are good is X2, and Kill Bill and Pirates of the Carribean was good too.

Matrix just seemed like the same old thing to me, a little bit better than the second one, not as good as the first one.

I actually can't stand most action movies now, it's basically just mtv edits, only in a scene for like two seconds than cut to the next one. I wish Francis Ford Coppola would make more movies, too bad the hacks get more chances at making films than he does.

wouldn't ROTK be considered a fantasy film and not an action film?

I don't classify it that way. The way I figure, if any film has a substantial amount of action sequences (whether it be fantasy; science fiction; war) I consider it an action film. And since my word is law, you shall all agree with me...
