I'd go watch them again. I usually hate 3-D movies, but I'll jump at any chance to see a Star Wars film in theaters.

I wouldn't hold to that. These might have been the planned release from before the sale of LFL and the theaters in the Netherlands might not have removed it from their forthcoming listings. Lucasfilm said that the 3D conversions were being cancelled due to having ILM focus on the ST.

They never said they were cancelled for good. The official word was "postponed" to focus on Episode VII. They also said they would update when the future plans for the existing movies in 3D were determined.

Well, after an unnecessary wait, it'd still be better than nothing. Don't get me wrong, I'd give anything to see these in theaters again, but I'm tired of them jerking us around. Attack of the Clones is finished; they've shown it at one of the Celebrations (I forget which), and Revenge of the Sith can't be too far behind with the planned simultaneous release.

On the bright side, December is good time to do it; without classes, I could probably make the midnight showing again.

Anyone think they may try to release II and III next December and then maybe fit in IV, V, and VI in late summer/fall of 2015 leading into VII in December 2015?

^That's cutting it short, but it still might work. Now that they've waited so long, there isn't a lot of wiggle room for releasing the remaining saga before Episode VII.

Good. Planning on doing anything which doesn't involve you asserting that something sucks?

I enjoyed TPM in 3D. I'd like to be able to enjoy AOTC and ROTS in 3D, too.

Remember how we dissected every frame of the first TPM trailer? Such memories...

Ah yeah, I remember those trailers. That was before Hollywood blinded you with rapid fade to blacks and loud BRRAM music.

This makes me wonder if it was purposefully done by Disney -- if they'll release the rest of the films close to Episode VII's release date to put the films' events back into public discourse while building hype for the new one.

Lucas is one of the few filmmakers who seems to have grasped the idea that film trailers can be an art-form, not just the films they're made out of.

But then, Star Wars is kind of like one big experimental art-piece, and may even end up consuming the universe. I mean, books, bedsheets, comics, games, toys, costumes, fan gatherings, weddings, seminars, university courses, and cultural memes up the wazoo -- where does it end, really?

Yes, please, yes. It's like the SE re-releases all over again. Except Greedo doesn't shoot first this time (they shoot at the same time now).

I'm not the biggest fan of 3D, but having the films back in theaters is a great idea, in my opinion.

If this is true, it's good news! I thought they were never going to release them, to be honest...

Well, I think word on the street was that the conversion for both AOTC and ROTS were already complete, so it may not necessarily be out of the realm of possibility that we'll see them re-released in 3D, but it may be something as simple as a one night only special event. Select theaters often show special one night only screenings of films, so it could happen, who knows.

I personally don't see Disney releasing AOTC, ROTS or the OT theatrically ala SE releases of '97 but I could see maybe a few select metro areas having special 1-2 day marathon screenings of all the films.

Normally I don't like 3D. I don't like putting glasses over my glasses, but if I could get tickets I'd go and see
