Sorry to trouble you guys again but I have created a series of animations which I now want to render. But iv noticed that I can do all sorts of fantastic things to export it...such as exporting it as 35mm anamorphic, Vista Vision etc.

Sounds fantastic! But to be honest, I just want a plain and simple 35mm that will play on a 16:9 tv. and fit perfectly.

    Would I use... 1.66:1?

    or 1.75:1

    or 1.85:1

2:35:1 looks great but my project has been framed for 4:3. However, the above ones look ok when i render a single scene. So I now want to render the whole thing in a format that will fit perfectly on new widescreen tvs (16:9)

Well, I dont really know if this will be much of the help but here goes what I would do:
1.I would render my animation in same or above PAL resolution (720*576), or whatever resolution of your widescreen TV is as .avi file with xVid compression, or none (if you are really looking for quality and not size of the file, though xvid doesent really lower the quality of picture and makes size a lot smaller)
2.As I use Nero Vision Express for burning my dvd's (it supports lots of avi compressions (such as xvid which I mostly use, or just use uncompressed avi) I import my footage, and then you can choose from standard dvd (4.7 GB) or those big about 8-9 GB's.
Then under the "more" tab you can choose your region (it sets resolution to your region TV size or something, not really into those things ^^), and also aspect ratio (you can choose between 4:3 and 16:9 or just click automatical.).
You click next, then you can make those covers that comes up when you start dvd, put some pictures, play buttons... etc ..., or just make it play when you instert dvd.
Thats how I do it, easy&fast, and I suggest you try doing this, cause output is great!

Those are all simplified ratios, as 1 is the last number.

    If you opened up calculator, you'd find that 4 / 3 = 1.333 and 16 / 9 = 1.778.

    So, 4:3 = 1.33:1 and 16:9 = 1.78:1.

Or you could just do put in 16x9 and then lock the aspect ratio and put increase the width until it's a good size.

I think the HDTV presets are set to 16:9, you could try those.
