I was watching 5th element on DVD a few days ago and I just noticed something and i wanted to ask to see if other people thought this too about the movie.

Now at the end of the movie when they put all the elements together and hit that fireball coming towards earth, it turns into a moon. Now since this thing is suppose to come once every 5,000 years. From the movies point of view is our moon the previous time one of these fire balls attacked earth?

Cuz at the end of the movie we have 2 moons, did we get our first moon from a previous attack? Or am i just looking way to into the movie?

Never thought about it that way before. Could be a very plausible theory...

I think it's a cool idea. And I'm sure the filmmakers expect us to make that connection, so I definitely don't think you're looking too much into it. :)

Well, the elemets were being hidden on Earth, so I guess that could be an explanation...

That's always what I thought. That one shot of the two "moons" together seems to clinch it IMHO.

I really think that you are thinking way to deeply into the movie...

I't was a good movie...but it wasn't all that deep.

Not thinking deeply, just thinking what the director wanted you to think! IMO

I went to a McDonald's in France to order a "Golden Menu"
like the cops had order in the 5th Element, was that thinking too much about the movie?!

When I first saw the movie I thought, "Wow, when evil comes back again it won't have that far to travel." [face_mischief]

    And like that...he's gone.

With another moon orbiting Earth wouldn't that create a catastrophe anyway when the additional gravitational force would raise the water level and flood coastal areas worldwide? I sure hope somebody got fired for that mistake.

I always assumed that what they were trying to tell us. I don't think you're reading to far into it at all.

Isn't the moon billions of years old?

The Fifth Element might have been around ("spoken before time was time") but why was it on Earth when there was nothing on it except molten rock and poisonous gases?

And haven't they found similar Earth like elements in moon rocks, hinting that it came from this very planet?

It's a good theory, but it has a few holes. [face_thinking]

Fun movie, but our moon's been around longer than 5000 years. And yeah they do believe that the moon was created out of an early impact from another body with the primordial Earth.

interesting theory, but without the moon life on earth wouldn't have existed in the first place

With the exception of Milla Jovovich in a suit made of white leather straps, that movie seriously sucked.

If the question was: Was this movie worth my while or was it just a hack of the Captain Planet theme, then I would have to say it was a hack and not worth anyone's time.

I remember some critic hailed it was the next generation's Star Wars! o_O

    but you can still count!

well, i thought it was a cool movie. i think the casting was wonderful--who doesn't love gary oldman as the bad guy? [face_love] and Chris Rock--i think that part must've been created with him in mind ;)

    Not a bad question, honestly.

If it did happen before, and we aren't supposed to conclude that the result was what we call our moon today, then what happened when the 'entity' was defeated?

Maybe it doesn't always take the form of a giant ball of rock, otherwise you'd expect there to be many moons around Earth.
