If anyone had the new marvel hardcover giant omnibus trilogy of their old material how does it compare to dark horses omnibus of 5 volumes and the wild space one? Is the content identical or is their new stuff in the hardcovers that dark horse didn't include?

Also, which collection do you prefer or think is more value for your money?

A Long Time Ago is definitely a better value, but these are two very different styles of collection. Dark Horse's Omnibus' reprints the material bare bones in a smaller size at a smaller price where as Marvel's Omnibuses are large format reproductions with remastered art and extras on super good quality paper.

I use to have all five A Long Time Ago Omnibuses and I currently own all three Original Marvel Years Omnibuses. My pro & cons of both-

A Long Time Ago Omnibuses Pros- smaller size, glossy pages with bright colors. Cons- The Marvel Comics Group Logo on the front cover of each issue & the Stan Lee Presents Intro are not there replaced by Lucasfilm presents. Issue 14 the sound of armageddon cover art has an all white background instead of the original's red & white sonic waves background.

Original Marvel Years Omnibuses Pros- The Marvel Comics Group logo on the front of each issue is there along with the Stan Lee presents intro and even some issues have the original ads on the top of the front covers from Toys R Us & Schwinn bicycles. Issue #14 has the correct cover art color. All the Marvel UK content in DH's Wild Space Vol.1 Omnibuses is included in Vol. 3 of Marvel's Omnibus along with a Star Wars Marvel Age Magazine issue & ads for the Star Wars Comic series. Contains bonus cover & original B&W artwork. The hardcover Omnibus build and page quality is very good.
The Cons- too expensive at release, the size & weight of the three Omnibus volumes makes then hard to hold while laying down, I had to put them flat on a table to read them. The pages are a little less glossy and some of the colors look a tad less vivid then DH's Omnibuses.

If I myself had to choose between DH's and Marvels Omnibuses for nostalgia reasons, Marvel's original Star Wars comic series was a big part of my childhood growing up I would pick the Original Marvel Years Omnibuses, IMO.

I have a different "A Long Time Ago..." collection that is seven volumes and is a larger size than the other Long Time Ago omnibus. I prefer this one to the smaller, newer one. Both are published by Dark Horse Comics, and they are both called "A Long Time Ago..." which is confusing.

well damn. The original marvel hardcovers are tempting but too pricey. Even with more content. I think for now I'll have to stick to the DH omnibuses.
