If you've ever heard them, you know that they have a rough metallic undertone to their voice. How is this done? I've got a Kel Dor in an upcoming film, and he's got the breath mask like Plo Koon's on.

It's called reverb. Most sound editing programs have a plugin that can add varying amounts, and some even let you specify the kind (Cathedral, small hall, metallic).

I always wanted to know what Plo Kloon would sound like. In my action figure movie that I'm working on Star Wars:Generations I took a guess on what he'd sound like. I made it a metallic sound too, and I reversed my voice. So he's not speaking basic.

But he's only got one line in my movie so it doesn't matter much, plus its in the heat of battle.

Goldwave is a program with a lot of nice effects- reverbs, flanges, dopler, pitch alterations, and the like- unregistered, it's essentially fully functional with a few annoying reminders every now and then. It's what I use... though it isn't much good for track-editing.

    Is it free?

And in Battlegrounds, Plo has a deep, raspy voice with a mechanical twang to it. He speaks Basic.

Both programs mentioned are free and listed in the sticky. ;)

    Good luck!

Flange might be more appropriate than reverb, reverb essentially just adds echo.
