Yeah, I’m not going to pretend that I’m as good with art as I like to think I am at words and patrolling the mean streets of the New Films forums, but here’s some Lightsaber concept art, where each image showcases a particular specific idea behind each saber: Basically, this one is supposed to be a “daisho” set of Sith lighstabers for a Jar’kai practitioner Sith. The reason the components seem to include a copper/bronze finish is because he was originally a Sith slave, trained only in combat, before managing to free himself, and retains and cares for his original roughly made sabers to remember that and feed his (not entirely unjustified but now horribly misdirected) anger and bitterness. A “Nagamaki” lighstaber, with a lightsaber-resistant hilt for the staff. The Jedi who uses this had to struggle with the warrior mindset of her home culture being too aggressive for a Jedi, so she made this saber specifically so she could use it, when deactivated, as a kind of non-lethal alternative, like a jo staff or club. A kind of “Kahnda”/“Cutlass” lighstaber. The guy who uses this is supposed to be an ex-Mandalorian who still has his gauntlets, including their energy shield feature, and he prefers to fight one handed, with the other hand using the shield. The Khanda part comes in when you realize that because the lighstaber will canonically be heavy, he can occasionally use the bottom half of the battery pack as a handle, but doesn’t always do so.
Had a bit more fun with this. It’s an armor design for Tarre Vizsla, the combination Mandalore/Jedi who forged the darksaber, as retold in Rebels. I tried to use the silhouette from the cool retelling by Finn Rau, the little details from the statue in the Forces of Destiny short (but I kept a visor on the helmet instead of having it be open-faced, a Clan Vizsla paint scheme from Rebels, a template designed off Feen Rau’s character sheet, and my own artistic license to make it.
Neat ideas, they look cool and the designs are simple enough that we could recreate them as 3D models using only basic shapes.
I always liked the idea of the Jensaari in the old Legends EU, and since I’m getting better at shading on the Sketches app for my IPad, here’s a pair of Jensaari twins who’s armors are about half Ringwraith.
Here’s two new lightsabers: first is a pair of tonfa-lightsabers (inspired by me thinking of a cool weapon Finn could have), and the other is a “Sith Scourge” Lightwhip (like Lumiya’s).
Since we can do non-Star Wars work a little bit here as well... ...Here’s a redesign I made of the Batman villain, Bane:
Okay... I’ve written a manuscript that I’m thinking about self-publishing, and maybe even making a cover for, and I wouldn’t mind some creative feedback. It’s “The Outlaw’s Shadow” - Guy of Gisborne above, and his rival Robin Hood below.
I actually used this sketch to have Bukovero (https://bukovero.com/) design a full cover for me to use with the book... and I think it’s interesting to look at it and see how it got translated. This is their version, not mine, and the one I’ll use on Amazon:
Here’s some concept art ideas I had for cycler rifles and pistols that could be used by foot soldiers back in the wars between ancient Sith and Jedi.
Got obsessed looking up Zweihander/Montante videos on YouTube, and had a concept for a Sith Lord from some ancient time building a Great Lightsaber using Beskar and Electrum.
Since the Mando image got messed up (at least for my computer, and I have a non-Star Wars art to post as well, here’s both:
