Now that Darth Plagueis is confirmed as Qimir’s master, and has been lurking in the shadows while season one was unfolding, I’m curious as to where the Sith go from here until they are revealed in the TPM. What is canon mostly comes from Plapatine’s/Sidious’ accounts, with the timing of Plagueis’ death still ambiguous; Legends has it close to Palpatine becoming Chancellor (but that’s not currently canon). We know Plagueis was seeking immortality and eventually was able to create life as well as prolong it by transferring one’s essence into a new body (as Palpatine was able to do so as well).

It would seem that the first season of Acolyte has established how Plagueis discovered the ability to create life, particularly life that is unnaturally force sensitive (Sol really seemed to pique Qimir’s interest when he was explaining to Mae how she and Osha were created). We don’t yet know how he learned to transfer life between bodies but maybe that bit is in season two; there is the whole Osha/Mae merge thats been discussed but hasn’t happened yet (or it just doesn’t get told how he figures it out).

From here it’s just speculation/fan fiction to fill in the dealings of the Sith between Acolyte and TPM.

-The Osha/Mae story is significant only to establish the pretext of the Sith’s rise/ Palpatine’s Origin

-Plagueis and Qimir want immortality but Plagueis fears losing his power; the midichlorians that exist in a beings blood determine its force sensitivity. So Plagueis needs a force sensitive body to take over or else he will become powerless.

-Plagueis and Qimir use the force (a vergence) to create Sheev Palpatine, an incredibly force sensitive body that also happens to well placed in Naboo’s Nobility.

-Qimr realizes that his master is going to be reborn into a being younger and even more powerful than himself, and therefore he will never become the Master (or have an apprentice of his own like he professed to desiring earlier in the Acolyte).

-The way Qimir encourages Osha to channel her negative emotions is eerily reminiscent of Palpatine, and they both seem to have a similar sociopathic vibe…sooo

-Qimir is Sidious, and when Plagueis is vulnerable he murders him and takes over the young Palpatines body for himself.

-At this point what happens to the Rule of Two is uncertain as Darth Maul would not yet be in the picture. Perhaps Osha stuck around and steps up as the apprentice in the meantime.

-Qimir is known to have travelled under the guise of a trader, and having recognized the practical use of such a disguise begins to establish the beginnings of the trade federation as a vessel to clandestinely spread the Sith Empire throughout the galaxy.

-A young Palpatine secretly pulls the strings of the Sith/Trade Federation from behind the scenes.

-At some point Osha’s baggage catches up to her or her intimate knowledge of Sidious’ origin makes her undesirable and she is killed and replaced with Maul.

Another glaring question that hasn’t really been answered definitely is Anakin’s origin, and if in fact he was the chosen one or created by Palpatine (or Plagueis? or Osha?, they are the only other ones to have known this ability but are presumably dead).

-There is the whole prophecy that a chosen one will bring balance to the force. Sticking to that, I think it sits best if Anakin is in fact the Chosen One created by the Force itself to counter Palpatines creation by the Darkside. Divine creation also sounds better for a chosen one story, and I think that whole Anakin/Luke/Skywalker arc played well and doesn’t need to be revisited with some sinister origin that also has to explain how he was forgotten on Tatooine.

    Thoughts?
    Thanks for reading
