Aaliyah in "Queen of the Damned"

What do you think about this movie? Are you sad that Aaliyah died before the film could be released? Do you think the studio is showing enough restraint in its marketing? And how could this possibly be as good as "Interview with the Vampire"?

 

The movie will suck.

EDIT: And it will bite. Hard.

 

I tried to get through Anne Rice's Interview with a vampire twice. couldn't. I just hope a movie version of her books is more interesting. (and I'm a vampire-book-lover!)

 

I love vampires too. Anyone here ever read "Midnight Blue"?

The movie could turn out to be good indeed! I for one though am not holding my breath. I still don't get how Hollywood continuously shells out vampire movies non-stop. No matter how bad they are, they only make more!! Do we really need more vampire movies?!?! Is there anything about vampires that hasn't been done over and over?!?! When you have a Vampire movie starring Snoop Dogg of all people, then you know the genre has run its course. But they make more vampire movies...SHeesh.

Well, i don't think the movie'll be very good, but i kinda liked Aaliyah as a singer.

 

I loved the book and the movie will suck...hard.

And from what I've read of the story line it ruins The Vampire Chronicles as a movie series.

Liz: Interview was a great movie but an OK book The Vampire Lestat was much better.

 

The movie looks awful. In terms of the books, only the first three were any good anyway.

 

I disagree Anne Rice's books just get better and better

I think her books have deteriorated since she stopped letting editors get their hands on her manuscripts. Which is something I heard started sometime around Pandora.

Once again, Tina comes through with the goodies. She rocks.

 

The trailer didn't show enough of Aaliyah scenes...

I love Aaliyah, but this film may not be that good.

Go see it, then tell me/us how it is

 

I've been waiting for another Vampire Chronicles movies since Interview with the Vampire but this one doesn't look very good. Certainly not on par with the original. I'll see it anyway though to see how they did.

They really dropped the ball on that franchise. They should have kept making them right after the original.

Can't stand any of her books (I read "Interview" and was praying for Dr. Van Helsing to show up, and I *love* a good vampire.) Thought the movie was okay--especially when Lestat sums up my feelings about Louis: "Still whining!" This one I'll wait to see on video, just like the first one. I'm sure it won't be great, but it has to be better than some of the other vampire junk the studios keep throwing out.

 

I jus dont read.

the music was done by Jon Davis of KoRn. i love korn. the music ive heard is awesome. i also heard Aaliyah was gonna do some songs wiht him for the movie. that would have been cool. she is the only R&B artist i can stand. Stupid plane crash

 

"Interview With The Vampire" was made by people who loved the book and wanted to work on the movie project.

"Queen of the Damned" was made because the studio would lose its rights to make a movie adaptation if it didn't hurry up and make one.

That pretty much sums it up right there.

And the quality of Anne Rice's books has been declining. Her recent stuff doesn't even come close to comparing to her early work.

In addition, the only reason it is being released theatrically was because of her death. Had she not died then this one was headed straight to video. Not a really great endorsement of a product.

 

You're right, I read about that. It really sucks because the next 2 books are really good and could have made good movies.
