A year ago, tomorrow (Aug 25th), the Beautiful Aaliyah Dana Haughton (Aaliyah stands for 'highest, most exalted one')ENDED her short talented life in a Plane Crash. :(

I don't know about you, but I REMEMBER!!!

It's the Anniversary of the tragic accident, it was 18:50 when the plane fell down on Aug 25th 2001.

Remember Aaliyah, her music and movies,

This Tribute is entirely in her OWN lyrics... randomly selected from each song

    Yo Turn My Music Up
    Up Some More
    Up Some More
    Up A Little Bit More
    Can ya'll really feel me
    East coast feel me
    West coast feel me
    Dirty south wha, wha
I came to give my love
To the fans across the world
    Reach out to you
Touch the hearts of boys and girls

Age ain't nothing but a number...
Its Not The Things I Say, Its The Way I Say It
    I?m Gonna Be
    More Than A Lover
    More Than A Woman
    More Than Another

Let Me Be Your Angel, Im Ready,
Ready To Get Goin On Ya Love.
You Dont Have To Worry, Im Ready To Do,
Whatever You Require, Is My One And Only Desire.
Call On Me, And You Know That ill Be All You Need.

I Wanna Get To Know, A Little More About You.
    It's official, You got issues
I got issues, but I know I miss you
How Yall Doin Out There Tonight?

    You won't see me tonight
    You won't see me tomorrow
My days with you are here no more
We had some good days I know for sure
Your love is a one in a million it goes on and on and on
    Yes, I Love You Too.

Love it babe. Love it babe. Love it babe. Love it babe...

I MISS YOU, Aaliyah! You WILL be missed ! :( I LOVE YOU [face_love]

She would have been 23 years Young, getting interviewed for her role in Matrix sequels, but...

P.S: Here are the other people died with her.

    - Gina Smith (29)
    - Douglas Kratz (28)
    - Keith Wallace (49)

    It's been a year?

I swear some sort of black hole came when we were all asleep and sucked the last part of 2001 and the first part of 2002 into oblivion.

    >Who? <

    Check it out...

Aaliyah is a very beautiful woman (You will see in the pictures), with high talents (Sing, dance, acting) & intelligent mind in Performing Arts (Graduated from the Detroit High School of the Performing Arts with a 4.0 GPA)

Oh, Aaliyah liked Resident Evil? cool?

"I have a PlayStaion at home and my favorite game is Resident Evil."

Want to get to know her more?

Her music taste also includes Rock, Alt.Rock.

    Her favorite author? Stephen King!

Her role would-be in Matrix, could it be the fact Aaliyah had training in Kung-Fu (She took Kung-Fu as a young child) help her get the roles.

But, the sad thing is we will NEVER see this future Aaliyah :(

"Of course, I would love to get into acting and I am talking to a few producers now. That would be really exciting to be a jack of all trades and do music, movies and TV. I love drama and I think I could be a good dramatic actress. I have to 'act out' emotions in my videos a lot and I try to seem as realistic as possible. I also would like to make bigger impact on the world by giving back, and using my celebrity to raise money for people who need it the most. What good is having money and being famous if you can't share it with others less fortunate than yourself? I always felt that you should treat others how you yourself want to be treated."

Appears that the pics don't work, heck, check out http://www.aaliyahonline.com/gallery.html then.

There is an IE tool that I recommend to everyone, Internet Explorer Booster

After you get it installed, when you want to look at broken images, just select "IEB: Page: Show Images" ... works like a Charm :)

    Alienacid is right.

What about all the non-famous people that die every day.

I can understand making a tribute to some guy/woman who died saving a childs life, or some one who died who did something else heroic, like giving his/her own life to save other people.

Because she made some music, and videos, think to yourself. Does she need a tribute for that?
By the way, was it not because that she insisted on getting all her clothes and stuff on that little plane that was the corse of the plane crashing? Killing not just her, but other people too.

Just my veiw on things, and of course if she ment so much to some people, then go ahead and give her a tribute. I just refuse to be apart of it of course. It would be against my morals :)

Edit: Just realizing this *is* a tribute for her, and this message tecnically making me apart of it. Kind of ironic.

All I can think about when I think about the people (people I know and famous people like Aaliyah) who died in the couple months before September is how they didn't have to go through the horror of 9/11 and how lucky they are to have been at peace when all of us alive were living in terror.

I didn't read the whole thread but

ENDED her short talented life in a Plane Crash.

It makes it sound as if she killed herself :(

Has it been a year? It's sad that SOMEONE died, but I had no idea who she was.

Ofcourse you pretty much are right about, that we don´t know when average people die.

Just for the record, I do know who Aliayah is. I thought she was a good singer, find it ashame she died at such a young age.

But I feel if it should be fair, we should make a tribute to everyone who has died.

    Well exept bad people.

Edit: I say we should make A tribute to Aliyah and everybody who died on the same day!
    :) = for the idea.
    :( = for the tragidy.

There is a very GOOD reason to miss this special lady.

She was sweet, talented (As I said, Singing, Dancing, Acting, Kung-Fu trained), Beautiful, and not just some dumb lucky one (4.0 GPA)!

She has more talents than a lot famous people nowdays. Some people famous now like have Awful grades, and awful minds, NOT her!

See the quote I posted? She said she will donate a lot of her money to charities, etc cuz she is not the kind would take it for granted.

"...I also would like to make bigger impact on the world by giving back, and using my celebrity to raise money for people who need it the most. What good is having money and being famous if you can't share it with others less fortunate than yourself? I always felt that you should treat others how you yourself want to be treated."

Her death was tragic. She was young, and just coming into her own as an artist. With that in mind though, I would like to echo the sentiments of others who have posted in this thread.

30,000 children who never had any of the opportunities that she had, who given the chance to succeed could have been famous singers, artists, actors, whatever, starve to death every single day.

It is a good idea to maintain at least a little perspective when mourning the death of someone who was rich and famous.

Man , i´m really sorry about this everyone. You can hate me if you want. I´t´s just I have strong beliefs about things. And I can´t keep my opinions to my self. It´s just of course you can make a tribute for her, and *just* her if you want. :)

But just one thing I would like to add.

Your inteligence should have nothing to do with anything. Some people can be labelled retarded, and be brilliant in making music, singing, writing poetry, painting. They could be great people. Look at Einstein.

Anyway, there IS a Vigil Tomorrow night at Time Square... check out the Info

On August 25, 2002 at 6:45pm we encourage you step outside, light a candle and take a moment of silence to remember Aaliyah.

During that time, fans are invited to join Quinn Mallory of Aaliyahonline.com as he lights a candle in Times Square between MTV and the Virgin Mega Store. Other AO staff members will be joining him.

Everyone is welcome, come as you are, bring a candle, but for planning purposes if you can email us at aovigil@aol.com and let us know if you plan to attend it would be greatly appreciated. NYPD is assisting us in getting a spot and it would be helpful to monitor how many people are coming.

Currently we are expecting about 125 people to attend.

Additional information: Due to overwhelming response, the vigil will be held on the island between 44th and 43rd st and Broadway. We can legally assemble peacefully without a permit as long we have no music or microphones as long as we do not block traffic or pedestrians. This is directly from the NYPD. We are asking everyone to behave responsibly and join in observing the moment. The vigil will start with candles being lit at 6:45pm and end at 7:15pm. We ask that you peacefully dispearse after the vigil. We thank you in advance for your cooperation in the beginning of this soon to be yearly event.

The key is not to block traffic or pedestrians. If the island is full, please assemble peacefully nearby without blocking traffic or pedestrians. If blocking occurs, the vigil may be endangered. Please respect others as we pay our respects to Aaliyah.

Special thanks to UrbanFanWorld.com for helping us when this vigil started to turn into an event, handling press inquiries, and for contacting the New York Police Department on our behalf.

And lastly if you can't make it to New York, please light a candle wherever you are, and let it shine brightly for our angel. It doesn't matter where you are, as long as your heart is true and your candle is bright.

As a standard, if you holding a vigil elsewhere we suggest you follow our British fan's precedent and light a candle at whatever time it is when it is 6:45pm EST New York. So if you're in Los Angeles, we suggest you light a candle at 3:45pm local time. The choice is yours, however we do want to offer a standard.

    Don´t be mad at me.

I see what you mean. Just look at Popstars. That show they have had in every country where the goal was to find the best looking best sounding girl. What crap.
"I got so far because I have talent". Crap, you got so far beacuse you won a contest and you have big ****. Publicity stunt comes to my mind.

I am mad at what you don't know...

Aaliyah is known that she is Classy, Humble, Truly Unique, the fans don't love her just for looks, and singing alone!!!

    Yes they will.

Posing nude is something to label a human being as 'bad' and them not being missed?

All I know is Aaliyah once said, "The Matrix is the Star Wars of our generation."
She deserved an F- in school for that single quote. ;) [face_mischief]
