    Title: Unexpected Love

    Author: LarsKronus

    Genre: Romance

    Time period: ROTS

Notes: What if Secura never died on Felucia? What if the Clone Commander who was ordered to kill her never did, because he was in love with her?

Commander and Jedi stood together at the viewport. Both of them looked at the fast approaching planet of Felucia wondering what it had in store for them. Or, rather, Commander Bly did, Aayla was still fuming over the fact that they couldn?t turn the ship around to aid the Jedi at Coruscant at Master Yoda?s orders. Commander Bly had insisted that the Felucia mission was top priority and that they should continue. After much argument, she had agreed, however reluctantly. ?Commander Bly,? Aayla addressed the clone, ?I think it might be best if you told your men to saddle up. We will be boarding the Laats in 20 minutes.? He gave a small bow, ?Yes ma?am.? His comm making the words sound almost offically cool. Turning he strode back into the depths of the ship to tell his troops. The 327th Sky Corps was locked and loaded. Those droids won?t know what hit ?em.

In record time the clones were arrayed in perfect formation before the Republic Gunships. Bly paraded down the lines giving small nods of approvals to various troopers here and there. Finishing his inspection he stepped back and awaited Master Secura?s arrival, hoping her anger had died down somewhat. The Jedi strode in quickly, her robes whipping about her legs. ?General on deck!? Bly barked and all the troops came to attention with a rustling snap. She acted as if her anger had abated, but sometimes with Secura, you just didn?t know, as Bly had personally experienced. ?Very good, Bly, that was faster than last time, was it not?? ?By 53 seconds, ma?am.? Master Secura gave a small grin, ?Ok, load them up, Commander.? ?Troopers! To your ships!? The uniform lines of white became slightly chaotic as the clones rushed to their respective Gunships, Commander Bly turned and accompanied Aayla to the lead Gunship along with a small group of clone troopers. Stepping onto it he moved several troopers aside for Aayla to sit and then clipped himself to the side. With a nod to the pilot the side doors closed, plunging them into darkness for a few moments before the cabin lights came on. There was a light hum as the ship lifted into the air and started out into the vacuum of space.

Bly linked up with the control bridge via his commlink, ?The baby banthas have left the nest, repeat, the baby banthas have left the nest.? ?Copy Baby Bantha, sort of a heads up, you?ve got Vulture fighters closing in on your current position, advised to either increase speed, or ready your stations.? ?Roger that, Bridge, informing the crew.? Leaning out as far as his tether would allow Bly called into the cockpit, ?Might wanna check your sensors, pilot, word out we?ve got Vultures inbound.? The pilot nodded and held up his fist, a few seconds later the ship turned as it took evasive maneuvers. Bly could only assume and hope that the other ships were doing the same.

Comments: This idea came to me as I was playing SWBF2 (Star Wars Battlefront 2) and performing a mission on Felucia with the 501st, General Secura commanding. I realize that it was after the 501st left that the 427th came in, (or were there already) and they were the ones who killed her, by the command of Order 66. After I had completed the mission and watched the cinematics, I was hit with a brilliant idea as I studied her animated cleavage. (Not a word.) What if...Commander Bly fell in love with Aayla Secura, therefore keeping him from killing her out of his love? Either way, I wrote a little bit, and posted this to kinda get the hook. Hope you enjoyed reading.

Next post and update for the day:

Aayla closed her eyes as she reached out with the force and touched the minds of the soldiers about her, strengthening them in their resolve. Bly established a link with the pilot in order to get info on the battle outside, ?How?s it lookin?, pilot?? ?Well, Commander, two squads of droids have engaged us, but we?ve managed to set up a defensive formation, no losses as of yet.? ?Distance to planet?? ?20 miles, sir, and closing.? ?Keep me updated.? ?Roger that, Commander.? The link fell silent as Bly and the other troopers swayed with the ship?s movement. Outside, muffled came the sounds of firing lasers and the occasional explosion. 5 minutes later the pilots voice came on, calm as ever, seemingly oblivious to the battle around him, ?Droid numbers depleting, sir, two crippled transports, severely damaged from the looks of it, but holding their own. Distance to planet, 5 miles.? Bly clicked his comm twice, signaling that he understood. ?2 miles, we lost one transport, the other?s falling-?it?s gone. Two transports down, Commander.? Bly sighed, two out of 20 transports, that wasn?t too bad, the losses shouldn?t amount to much. Suddenly, the pilots voice came on, interrupting his thoughts, ?Sir, we?ve got 4 more squadrons of Vultures inbound, and fast! Radar reads about?70?90 fighters, sir! Way more than 4 squads, sir, we?ve got their whole space force in our hands!? The pilot?s composure had finally broken as his voice cracked with the last announcement. Even if a little exaggerated, 90 fighters was too much for their Transports to handle. ?Pilot, disengage and head for the planet?s surface as fast as possible, distance?? ?Around?? it took a moment for the pilot to check as his head darted about, tracking different fighters, ?A mile, sir! We?ve got a mile left!? More explosions rocked the ship, whether fighters or other transports, they had no way of knowing. The ship shuddered as their turrets fired back, if in vain, but still firing. ?Sir! We?ve lost?? His voice was drowned out by a loud explosion, ?-ansports, we can?t hold ?em off!? ?Pilot, repeat.? ?5 transports down, sir, we?ve lost five transports, we can?t keep them off too much longer!? There was a brief silence, ?Heading through the atmosphere?heat shields holding?Gold 3 just blew apart?? The pilot cursed as he guided the transport through the burning gases. Suddenly, the ship rocked violently, it had taken a hit, Bly felt them slowing down. ?We?ve lost our starboard engine, sir, speed reduced! 10,000 feet above the surface?I?m going to try and land it, sir!? ?Good luck pilot.? Was Bly?s only reply. Aayla had not moved from her position, completely unfazed by what was going on, her eyes still closed. She may have been the only reason the pilot was holding up as long as he did. His stomach lurched as the transport took a steep dive, aiming for the jungle surface. A sudden crash sent most of the clones stumbling to the ground, held up only by their tethers, Secura managed to keep her balance using the force. Bly flew up and back slamming into the wall, there was another crash, slamming him again, and this time, the darkness took him.

The sounds of Felucia awoke him. Slowly he reached his hand up, touching his head gingerly, surprised to find his helmet not on. Pulling himself up, he groaned as stabs of pain arched up his back. Suddenly there was a figure at his side, pushing him back down gently and murmuring encouragement. His head hit the pillow, and he fell asleep. Once again, he opened his eyes, closing them just as quickly as the sun hit them. He turned over on his side and opened his eyes again. Jedi Master Aayla Secura kneeled beside him, ?Good morning Commander.? He closed his eyes briefly and tried to sit up, this time, no one stopped him. ?Master Secura?are you alright? You?re fine?? The Twi?lek laughed, ?Just like you, Bly, sustaining horrible injuries to your body and all you do is worry about me.? He pat himself down, surprised to find himself relieved of his armor, ?My men?? At this, Master Secura grew solemn, ?All in all, we have lost 10 to 11 transports and twice as many men.? He sank back into his bedding, silently counting out the numbers lost. ?Status? Where are we now?? He struggled to his feet, ?And where is my armour?? Aayla handed him his breastplate and helmet and gestured to the rest of it lying next to a tree-like growth, ?We are good and have set up a perimeter, no droids have attacked yet, and our location, unfortunately, is unknown.? Bly set about fastening his armour. ?The Laat?s?? ?All of them crashed, and to my knowledge, only one is half-functioning.? He nodded as he slipped on that last part, cradling his helmet. ?Well, Master Jedi, it seems once more, I owe you my life.? Aayla Secura smiled. Over the years in service together, they had grown rather close, more as friends than anything else. Though, sometimes, things change. The Clone Commander held out his hand, which Secura took. And maybe they held hands for just a little bit longer than necessary, just maybe. Both of them never knew.

Moments later, Commander Bly surveyed the wreckage of several of the transports. They had not succeeded in contacting their superiors which left them lost and blind for the moment. ?I suppose,? He mused, ?That we could try and repair these half-functioning ones. Some engineers survived the crash, I?m sure.? Aayla came out from behind the shattered remnants of the transport?s hull. ?That might be a good idea, but I doubt we have any materials for the repairs.? ?We could scrounge from the others.? He suggested. ?There isn?t much left of the others.? Secura replied, coming up to stand next to Bly. They stood silently together, thinking before Bly suddenly turned to Secura, ?Then lets use droids.? The Jedi Master smiled, ?I?m game.?

The surviving clones had set up camp and a heavily patrolled perimeter. Roughly, there were close to a hundred strong, give or take a few, hardly enough for an all-out assault. But since the droids had left them alone, they would do the same. Instead of planning, the two friends had found time to sit about and have a pleasant conversation. ?What do you plan on doing with your life, Bly? As it is, this war was all you were created for, as are the men who serve you.? Bly shrugged, ?In truth, Master Secura, I do not know, and more than likely, will not until the war ends. Maybe they?ll dispose of us, that seems the most likely option.? Aayla could not help herself, at the thought of so many lives just thrown away after having served their purpose, she closed her eyes and shivered. Bly gave a half smile, ?Why be bothered? Its what we were made for, wasn?t it? Its what we are all destined to do.? The Jedi recovered herself, and gave him a small sad smile, ?No Bly, some of you are destined for a whole lot more.? Their eyes met for a second before they both pulled away. ?Sometimes, Master Jedi, I would like to think that. But there hasn?t been a change in our situation to give me any hope.? Aayla stood up, ?Maybe there will be, Bly, the Force has many ways of fulfilling it?s true purpose, for all of us.? ?Then let us hope,? Began Bly softly, ?That it happens for all of us, soon.?

Bly sat alone after that, quietly eating his rations. He was trying to discern the feelings he felt, those that he had never felt before. They were, at best, indescribable, and set him off balance. He had read about such things before, on the Holo-Net, but they never really added up to the same thing. As it seemed, for each person, the feelings were different. For him, it felt as if he were in battle all over again, the excitement, pounding pulse, rush of adrenaline. He would bet that there was no one who felt it even remotely close like he did. He smiled and chuckled as he downed the last of his drink. Maybe it was all just a fluke, he shouldn?t dwell on it. Too much.

Fish: (If you'd like to be called such) I'm glad your enjoying it, I sure hope it gets active, then I get a reason to bring beer back into the picture! (and thanks ever so much for the compliment on the emotions, those are quite hard for me to master)

Kyana: Apologies for spelling your name wrong the first time, it was foolish of me, but anyway, thank you for your review!

    Next update:

The next few days were slow and uneventful. Finally they began plants to attack the dug in Seps, but their limited number provided limited options. Bly opted to attack their weakest point, softening it up with what artillery they had while Aayla suggested more of a guerilla warfare approach. Two opinions set together, two different people, equals argument. And so, much like a couple at times, they argued. But you could see from the light twinkle in the Twi?lek?s eyes, despite her serious face, that she enjoyed such matches. Though, it couldn?t be said the same for the Commander. Eventually the Jedi won out and they set about preparing the men for their new tactic. Then, before they marched out, Bly and Aayla did something they never did since their first meeting.

Bly walked up tot Aayla Secura, his helmet tucked under his arm, ?I just wanted to say?Master Secura, good luck, on your end, I mean?? Aayla smiled, surprised at the clone?s thoughtfulness, but deep down she had expected such treatment, ?And to you as well, Bly, the Force be with you.? Bly hung about for a few more seconds as if he wanted to say something, then bowing he turned and stiffly walked away. And the whole way back to his troop, he fought those familiar feelings.

Their attack went immediately underway soon after. Slowly their different units crept through the jungle-like foilage, keeping a sharp eye out for any droids. Bly unpdated everyone through their HUD, sticking nav points where the two units were to go, and also the direction of the base. And as he carefully stepped over lines of man eating insects, around thick congregations of foilage, and dodged various predators, he caught Aayla glancing at him from time to time. Good thing he was wearing a helmet, or she would?ve seen he was doing the same thing.

I think you are doing a masterful job with handling emotions and revealing the emerging relationship. One thing that concerns me and I confess I havent read up on Aayla's character as much as I would like she seems more military then other Jedi. Is this your interpertation or is that they established character and what of master Vosh? please give Bly a nickname I love clone nicknames

Thank you ever so much for your compliments. I have interpreted (spelled right?) Aayla as more of a military figure rather than anything else, for that is how I always saw her. I'm hoping that when the romance bit gets a little deeper, she might loosen up and show her true side, but we'll have to see. Oh, and that is his nickname, actually, its 'Bly'. (Otherwise I would've settled for something more menacing :p)

I have always viewed Bly like Cody names given or taken for the sake of having the commander with a name. You need something like Darman in the republic commando books that way when Aayla and he share a tender moment she can call him by his secret name.

Ps dont know how this adding thing works but count me in
