Full Series Aayla Secura

Thought there should be a thread to discuss Aayla!!

I think Jedi Knight Aayla Secura was an awesome addition to the Clone Wars. It was shame we didn't get to see much of her though. She was a very talented and respected Jedi Knight and rocked in the few appearances she got. Very popular too. What does everyone think?



Also, could she make an appearance in another show?

Bring Aayla back? Or else could more Clone Wars episodes involve her?

I would like to see marvel do comic series on major side jedi like Aayla and shaak ti, kit fisto, etc. Origin stories maybe.

Is there a thread though? I can't see an actual thread on her in general as you have with the Rebels characters. E.g. There are many thread on specific questions, so hope this will stay open and a discussion starts!

Indeed. Tbh the CGI Aayla was rather well done in TCW. It's a shame we didn't see more of her in action.

Sorry to say I'm not a big fan of Aayla in TCW. There wasn't really anything that made her stand out. No real personality or defining attributes. Thats not to say she was the only Jedi like that - Eeth Koth, Adi Gallia, Saesee Tiin and pre-darkside Barriss Offee were just as dull. But outside of obviously being eye candy, I just don't see the appeal of Aayla Secura.

 

She was in Son of Dathomir for a few scenes.

 

There is no other point.

 

It's funny. I had to look up just to confirm that she was in TCW to begin with.

Her appeal more comes from Star Wars: Republic and other Dark Horse SW comics, same with Quinlan Vos and even Ventress.

 

Ventress held her own pretty well in TCW.

 

Maybe Lucas characters, including concept art designs had precedence as Ventress and even Sing had more screen time, and they'd more often use some un-used movie concept art for an original character on the toon. However TCW crew were inspired by the Dark Horse use of the Ventress character which was where her first appearance was and where she was fleshed out first in 2003. John Ostrander & Jan Duursema inspired a lot of TCW. Why they never made more episodes featuring Vos and Secura remains a mystery, but many Jedi or other characters werent featured often as they focused always pretty much on Anakin, Kenobi and Ashoka and to a lesser extent Padme, Jar Jar and some of the other Jedi Council members or some one shot original character. Aurra Sing had more screen time Secura even and this character was pretty big in Dark Horse comics. Mostly likely producer/writers preference and what Lucas wanted to see. Vos was to have had a more major role in the later season of TCW that ended up as Dark Disciple. Secura had a cameo in Son of Dathomir. I would like to have read the original scripts as the comics seem to be missing stuff.

 

I can understand why Asajj Ventress and Aurra Sing got more screentime. The show had barely any major villains when it first began, especially in comparison to how many heroes there were. One of the biggest complaints I remember about the first season was how Dooku, Grievous and Ventress were the only prominant villains on the show. It was only as the seasons progressed that Darth Sidious, Aurra Sing, Cad Bane and Hondo got bigger roles, while others like Pre Vizsla, Darth Maul, Bo-Katan, Boba Fett, Bossk, Mother Talzin and Savage Opress joined the ranks.

Jedi on the otherhand were dime a dozen. You had Anakin, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Mace, Yoda, Plo Koon, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Kit Fisto, Luminara, Barriss, Aayla, Shaak Ti, Quinlan Vos, Saesee Tinn, Adi Gallia, Eeth Koth, Jocusta Nu and Even Piell. Throw in the non-Force sensitive heroes like Padme, Rex, Satine, Bail, Lux, C-3PO, R2-D2 and Jar Jar on top of them and there simply isn't enough time to develop everyone.

 

Whether you meant it or not, it seems very telling that on one hand you talk about her talent (which IMHO really hasn't been well displayed) and yet choose an image that seems to show her talents as her physical attributes (which are well displayed if that is what is meant by her talents).

 

Wished canon Aayla had two lightsabers like she did in the battlefront 2 game

She did feature in the micro-series as well, which was then canon.



That spinning torso move Grievous did on that cartoon seems to be also where they got the spinning Inquisitor's lightsaber from (along with the Hasbro spinning Grievous lightsaber toy).

 

Aayla should not be brought back from the dead, though I wouldn't mind new material of her set pre-TCW.

 

I dont know why but that made me chuckle thinking of the abyss.
