Does anyone have any strategies for the Abyss level on Ord Ibanna in the Invitational Podracing Circuit? It's the one with two different levels and the U-turn about ten seconds into the track. I think that lots 'o traction might help, and Wan Sandage and Neva Kee have the max of it (the traction).

Give people time! Heck, it's Christmas and the boards are slow, you don't need to "up" your post after 30 minutes of no replies. If someone was on who could help, I'm sure they would have.

    Patience...

Good god I hated that level.

There are two strategies I go by: the fair way and the slightly dodgy way.

The fair way is to keep trying the level. IMO it's impossible to stay on the top level for all three laps. So just go straight down as soon as you reach the double level. If you keep trying as a fast ship (Neva or Anakin) you will find that after ages the opponents will accidentally come down 2 times out of the 3 laps. That's all you need. You can make the gap and win fairly.

The other way is to get a big beefy vehicle *coughSebulbacough* and make sure you get to the opening first. Come to a stop just at the opening. When your opponents fly into you, they will temporarily lose control and end up on the bottom level. [face_devil] Since the course Boss is supposed to win the race, as long as you get say the first 3 people down on the first lap and perhaps the first 2 on the second/ third, the rest will slow down slightly to let him pass them. Of course due to your superior flying technique, they also have to let you pass. :D

You'll still have to fly your arse off, but it beats losing.
    Good luck!

IMO, Nevee Kee or Anakin Skywalker are okay podracers, but I unlocked Bullseye Navior, which is probably the best podracer to choose to win races like this one.

You have to convert Cy Yunga to Bullseye Navior. This guy has excellent traction.

I think that Abyss is hands down the hardest track in the game, because it's just so unfair. Staying on top will shave seriously 15-20 seconds off your lap time. Falling down can take you from 1st position to 8th. I didn't bother switching pods to get it, because I'm the type who just uses one pod for the whole game (Teemto in this case). And after about a million tries, I finally managed to stay on top for all three laps. You can try to be tricky about it, but in the end, you just have to keep on trying and trying until you get it. And once you do, you'll never have to do the #$#%&* track again. :D

    I despise that level!

It's the only one I haven't gotten first place for. Yeah . . . how do you stay on top? It's all but impossible. That level was definitely desinged way too hard.

Woohoo! Last night I got 2nd place with Navior. :D I'm gonna try for a lap record with Ebe now. He's been my main man throughout the game.

That level made me give up on the game completely. I was having fun up until that point. If I had more time for games like I did when I was a kid, I'd probably stick with it. But in my older age, if I can't get past just one friggin' level in many, many, many tries over the course of a couple days, I'll move on (unless it's with a game I am REALLY wanting to play... Racer was just a used-game impulse buy).
