ST Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) in Episode VII

The possible vilian needs a thread.

 

I hope he doesn't play a human character, I'd rather see an alien Sith villain.

Do you think Driver will be a masked villain or just a bad guy/force user?

 

My guess is he will have some sort of armor, but only for practical reasons and when in combat, not necessarily permanently stuck in a suit.

 

No problem. Well if the rumor of him playing a possible Dark Vader type character is true. He probably end up a Sith,but at this point it just idle speculation by me.

 

I'm really curious to see what sort of villain Driver will play. Hopefully he'll be able to present a performance that makes him stand-out in the Sith crowd. I'd be amazed if he ended up being a Darth Vader-ish sort of villain, but I could definitely see him being a villain akin to Darth Maul.

 

Thanks for starting Adam's thread. I think he will be a sith for sure, but possibly start off as a jedi... the son of Han Solo possibly.

 

If he ends up playing a Darth Vader type of character, I'd wager that he'll probably have some sort of immediate connection to the Solos or Skywalkers.

 

He will be so similar to Darth Vader that he will be known as Varth Dader.

 

I think Sith pureblood would be nice, but highly unlikely, since (according to the old EU) became extinct after many species breeding with each other, that the bloodline was tainted and the species were lost.
So my next possible would a Zabrak. I know, nothing original here , but I think they missed a great opportunity with Maul.

Speakin of Maul, I am thinking of Driver being a Sith similar to Maul, would be nice. Just with more talking and less fighting
But the kind of Sith that you stare in the eye and makes you crap your pants.

Now that is the kind of villain we need.

 

Driver: I just read the script. So...my character is named Varth Dader? Doesn't that name seem kinda familiar to you?

J.J: Exactly! Reversing your name and making it sound like Darth Vader will create references for the fans to the OT. Also, in the movie you will fall in love with a Senator, fall to the Dark Side and a fellow named Wan-Obi will cut off all your limbs and thrown you into a volcano. I can already see success written all over it.

 

I'd like him to have armor and cybernetics, but without the whole walking lung thing. I hope he is menacing as heck. I'd like to see a combo of Vader's menace with Dooku's refinement.

I think the announcement that he would play a "Darth Vader-like" role was misleading. "Anakin Skywalker-like" would be more accurate because my instincts say Jacen Solo (although his first name may be changed and he may be an older brother rather than a younger twin). One big difference would be seeing him fall to the dark side earlier in the trilogy rather than the end of the 3rd movie, because my other hunch is that Han dies heroically towards the end of the first movie. That is part of what turns Adam's character.

I hope his face gets scarred up, but please no mask. He already looks scary. Pretty sure that helped him land the role.

 

EU characters are gone. Stop it.

 

They're not cannon. This gave the writers freedom to use and morph EU characters to their liking without restraint if they chose to. Who the heck do you think Ridley is playing?

 

Everything about Driver just says he's going to be a young Dooku type of character, someone who's disillusioned by the contradictions of the Jedi and Sydow's character has manipulated him. In that way they'll be the equivalent of ANH's Vader and Tarkin, Driver's more powerful than Sydow but has to follow his lead.

 

They're not gone, they are there for inspiration if need be. That's what the press release said.

 

Thought that was for the TV stuff? Not the movies.

I can foresee Driver portraying a fallen Jedi who becomes a Sith, perhaps (and likely) a student of Luke's. I would like if it turns out he is a Solo, but I'm not anticipating that. It also occurs to me that someone seduces him to the dark side, it is possible however unlikely that this someone is the character MVS will be playing.

 

A Solo daughter, for sure, but if her name is Jaina, I'll eat my hat.
