IMHO it depends on the amount of work you're going to be doing and the features your projects will require. For example if you are going to be doing a lot of keying the Keylight filter can come in handy and overall the Pro version is much more versatile than Standard. If you plan to be working on more than a few small effects or feel you might want the extra features for later I would go with the Pro version.

    Just my two cents.

Well after haering so much about AE in general I had to do some looking around.

I found an excelelnt deal on the pro version for just a bit more than standard and will probably pick it up. After seeing alot of the stuff the forum members here are producing lately I've come to value your opinions, so, here I am asking :)

I find just the 16-bit colour processing makes Pro worth it to me. Other than that, some of the other plug-ins are cool. I played with keylight the other day, and in comparison with the "utilities" you get in Std., it was most impressive.

continuing with spiff's comment, 16 bit color, Keylight, Cycore Effects and Color finesse make Pro absolutley worth it....CF is like having a Davinci (a million dollar color correction suite that I use everyday at work) built into AE. And keylight is by far the best commercially available keying software I've used....practically does all the work for you, wish I had it when I did my fan film...would have saved me tons of time.
