This is bugging me about Ahsoka and it just seems wrong somehow.

She was born in 36BBY and I'm guessing from it saying 'Clone Wars (22 BBY?19 BBY)' that she was either 13 or 14 at the start of the series. And yet wookieepedia says this about her:
This just seems completely at odds with this:
While it does go on to say that Luke abandoned this in the New Jedi Order it was still in practice during the clone wars. If a youngling can become a Padawan at no older than 12, how can they say that she was made a Padawan early at the age of 13/14? Or how could she be a Padawan at all? The official site says that she's a teenager which still makes her too old.

It also says on wookieepdia that Padawans are chosen by the Masters/Knights themselves and yet Ahsoka was assigned to be Anakin's Padawan.

Am I missing something here? Because this just seems wrong in lots of ways.

GL had said at one point that she was 11 years old, then during development I bet they aged her so she could be more independent a 11 year old wouldnt problably be as mouthy.

They just didnt change the background information except the year of birth.

    Lazy Bastards :)

Anakin was assigned Ahsoka because Yoda thought it would teach Anakin some control and responsibility. Anakin didn't really have a choice in the manner, and even if he did want to pass it up his pride probably wouldn't let him.

Oh, and don't trust any official information right now. Everything is up in the air.

Which is surprising. Usually they have pretty good idea of where something is going to fit in the overall continuity before they start.

It doesn't bother me so much that Ahsoka was assigned to Anakin since the point was to teach him something, but it does bother me that Obi-Wan was under the impresion that he would be getting a new padawan that he didn't pick either!! He had never met Ahsoka, so he would have been essentially taking on another apprentice he didn't pick? I guess it would have been a step up from the last one which he was basically guilted into.

Yeah, but Obi-wan DID ask to be given a Padawan, unlike Anakin.

So shouldn't Obi-Wan be getting a new padawan as well then?

My assumption is that Jedi aren't getting to choose their Padawans because they're kept away from the Temple by the Clone Wars.

    I'm assuming he will.

I think it was a trick. Obi Wan didn't ask for a padawan. He only said it just to see if Anakin had some interest in one.

Remember, Anakin says something like this: "I am beggining to think this was all your idea".

I sure hope not. Obi Wan can only teach the Skywalker line, no one else.

I'm still of the silly opinion that Ahsoka was assigned to Anakin for devious reasons. With the dangers of Anakin's missions, I believe the Jedi Council believes that Ahsoka will not survive. Thus forcing Anakin to deal with his attachment issues.[face_skull]
