Originaly posted on Twitchfilm.com: Alamo Drafthouse Cinema has got a contest to gets guys to spoof Snakes on a Plane called Blanks On A Blank. After registering a team online, participants will be assigned a random animal and vehicle combination and then they will have until August 3rd to submit.
Animals and vehicles: they just don't mix. The biggest film of this summer, obviously, will show us the inherent dangers of putting **** snakes on a **** plane. But what will be the biggest film of NEXT summer?

To us, the success of SNAKES ON A PLANE is a foregone conclusion. And when any film is a success, sequels are inevitable. But how do you follow up the brilliance of S.O.A.P.? Do you put snakes somewhere else? Do you put a different animal on a plane? The options, of course, are endless, and as we were sitting around a table at a pub talking about all the different possible cinematic combinations, we realized that we really, really, really wanted to see all those movies become a reality. And so we set up the Blanks On A Blank filmmaking challenge, giving the whole world the chance to show us the future of animal/vehicle disaster films.

    WHEN:
Registration for teams is now open. will continue from now until the final deadline, of Thursday, August 3, 11:59pm (CST). Voting will continue online throughout the process as soon as films start to come in. Online voting will close on Thursday, August 10.

Showings of best Austin films will be Wed, Aug 9 and Thursday, Aug 10 at the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown (409 B Colorado St, in downtown Austin, TX)

Theatrical screening of the best of the world's entries will be Thursday, Aug 17 at 10pm at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar (1120 South Lamar Blvd, Austin, TX) and lead in directly to a midnight sneak screening of SNAKES ON A PLANE featuring live snakes in the theater and actual snakemeat available on the menu.

I got really, really psyched until I realized it was a 40$ registration charge. TFN should make some fun contests like this, but instead of contests, we call them workshops, so there is no prize... except maybe a fancy colored name.

That sounds kind of corny, as far as contests go.

However, I am delighted to be shown that the acronym for Snakes on a Plane is SOAP. I didn't pick up on that before.
