First of all, sorry if this has been discussed before, but the search function didn't yield anything. Also, sorry if this is not the proper place to simply discuss possibilites for fan fiction as opposed to actually posting stories, but none of the other boards seemed any more appropriate. Without further ado...

In this world, Anakin is still the same character, full of emotions, and still loved Padmé and fathered Luke and Leia, but something that happens in Episode I (I'm not sure exactly what ? it would have to be something that would make Obi-Wan actively dislike him from the start and plant a seed of jealousy/hate in Obi-Wan) causes Obi-Wan to become open to the Dark Side, so Sidious never even approaches Anakin because Obi-Wan is seething the first time Palpatine sees him. (For this to work, we have to assume Palpatine was lying about his master or he having artificially created Anakin.) The entire relationship between Obi-Wan and Anakin is tense and characterized by jealousy on Obi-Wan's part from the start, but the larger events of the Clone Wars occur largely unchanged.

During the events of Revenge of the Sith, the Council senses the darkness and is suspicious of Obi-Wan's emotions (also because he is appointed Palpatine's special envoy to the Council), Anakin is been sent to defeat Grievous, pushing Obi-Wan even further to the Dark Side in his jealousy. Palpatine is able to take advantage of the jealousy he has been fostering in Obi-Wan to make him his new apprentice, promising him the chance to defeat Anakin. Obi-Wan is sent to Mustafar to kill the Separatist leaders, and Anakin follows him, with Padmé and the droids in tow, with the intention of confronting Obi-Wan. (I don't think he would have conferred with Yoda like the "real" Obi-Wan did, but maybe. He would have been present at the founding Rebellion meetings though. This is still all up for discussion.) Obi-Wan defeats Anakin on Mustafar, leaving him similarly crippled, but I would strongly prefer he not lose his hair for aesthetic purposes. The droids or Padmé or someone contacts Bail Organa. The victorious Sith Obi-Wan leaves Mustafar believing Anakin to be dead with Padmé and the soon-to-be-born twins. The droids would have to some how leave Padmé's ship to be with Anakin, as if Obi-Wan got them, they'd probably be memory-wiped and never be seen again in the story. Organa shows up sometime later and rescues Anakin and takes him somewhere to get new limbs and a breathing aparatus. Obi-Wan takes the newborn twins to the Emperor; they are raised as Sith (more like Emperor's hands until Obi-Wan's death) from birth. The original trilogy is be re-patterned as the story of a middle-aged, once-great man trying to redeem himself by defeating his former master and redeem his children.

This story could go one of two ways. On one hand, Anakin continues the fight as a secret Rebel agent (secret because he would know the Empire would hunt him down if they knew he was still alive). In this case, he is on board the Tantive IV when it is be intercepted by Imperials (I'm not sure if it would be one of the twins or Kenobi or what combination thereof, although including Leia would make it a lot more fun), and escapes to Tatooine with the droids. Maybe he would be able to turn his life support systems off, essentially killing himself temporarily in order to give the pod the appearance to scanners of having no life forms) and relying on R2's electric shock attachment to "restart" him. I'm not sure if that's plausible.

On the other hand, Anakin, wracked with guilt for letting his wife die alone (as he still had visions that she would die, he just never was given the option to "save" her by Sidious) and his children be taken by the Sith, could have gone into hiding after he got his new body. For the sake of the story, this would have been out in the Jundland Wastes on Tatooine (which makes enough sense, as this was his home planet). He would have occasionally come to visit his step-brother Owen, and either found the droids there after they came to Owen through the

Pretty good, there are stories where Obi turns, but this one would be fun to write. Han making sexual jokes to mask his pain.[face_laugh] [face_laugh] That's Han alright.
