Chic, IL AMC 30 in Barrington... Was there a lineup/12:01 showing for TPM?

Well, for those of you in the NW suburbs like me, the theater I go to see movies at is the AMC 30 Theaters in Barrington. I love the 4 HUGE screens and the digital projection!

I was wondering if there was a line up there or at least a 12:01 showing that a lot of fans went to. You see, I figure that if they did it for TPM, they'd do it for AOTC.

So, does anyone know if there was a 12:01 showing for TPM and/or if there will be one for AOTC?

EDIT: The whole reason I want to know is because I want my 12:01 viewing to the best ever. The way it could best achieve that is to see it with a bunch of hyper-active, near-insane SW fans at 12:01.

 

Yes, I was there for the 12:01 showing. They had TPM on 4 screens that night because of all the tickets sold. I will be there again for AOTC, which they should also have a 12:01 showing.

 

Sweet! I also wanted to know what time you all got there on the night of the premiere! Like to line up for good seats and all. My 4 friends and I want to get good seats, so we were thinking of getting there around 6PM. Is that too early, too late, or what?

Oooo, was there like a lot of dressed up fans and lightsabers and stuff? Cuz I'm planning on doing all that.

The founders of Chicago Force lined up at McClurg Court downtown. We lined up several days before (first to get tickets, and then to get seats). For Star Wars action and media bliss, there's no place like McClurg as it's in the heart of it all. However, we are looking for people who are interested in heading up Chicago Force lines at other theaters if they can't or don't wish to make the trek to the city.

the barrington amc is not in a mall. as far as i know they did not allow people to line up till the morning before. they would also not allow anyone to camp out.

i was at the midnight show. yes there were some folks dressed up but most of the costumes came out the next night where there was a darth maul and a bunch of jedi.

Ok, since people are talking about it, I'll spill the beans. The Midwest Garrison will be at the AMC 30 in force for the first showing of ATOC in the DLP cinema. We are in talks with the theatre right now discussing the details so I can not elaborate yet.

Don't get me wrong, all SW fans are encouraged to attend, not just Imperial fans. Both the 501st and the Rebel Legion will be represented.

What it was that we couldn't line up for the tickets the week before until 7:00am. The night of the movie, we got there at 10:00pm and waited probably 15 minutes to get in and still got great seats. With 4 screens going, we were able to see which theaters filled up first and headed for the emptier one.

Are you kidding Jodo? I want to go to the full theater! The more Star Wars excitement, the better. BTW, were there other SW fans already lined up when you went there at 10PM, or were you one of the first? Oh, and didja wait outside of the theater, or inside it (and if inside, where)?

The theater was full an hour before the show started. They had a costume contest and were giving away prizes also. The line was pretty long when I got there but it went smooth getting in. When my friends and I go this time, we'll probably meet at my house, which is 10 minutes away, and leave from there in 1 or 2 cars. Anyone else is more than welcome to join us.

 

I'm going with 3 friend and my bro, we're thinking of getting there about like 6 o'clock (at least 2 of us) just for the heck of it.

Jodo, where was the line for waiting for the show? Was it physically outside the theater, or was it inside (if so, where)?

 

The line was outside until they let everyone in about 10:15 or so.

 

I have been talking with theatre management some more. There will be a 12:01 show if LFL allows them. Tickets will be available for the showing a few weeks before at just about every theatre around.

He is excited about having The 501st, Chicago Force and the Rebel Legion groups at his theatre.

lol, yah, I heard some SW fan won a costume contest during TPM by running up front and ripping his shirt off!

 

Ya! There was a line hug frikin line actually. My friends and I ended up at the old Rolling Meadows Sony theater and got in there.

But I'd be happy to stand outside of AMC waiting to AoTC.

10:00pm is the latests I'd get there though. Im thinking that 9-ish is better.

 

We're getting there around 6PM. I want first place in line.
But Jodo, WHERE did you line up at the AMC 30 Barrington. I mean, that outside area in front of the main doors is rather large, so I would think that a single line would be hard to manage. Could ya sorta specifically tell me where you all lined up?

OH, Lance, that's where I saw TPM too! That theater was my favorite. Too bad it's gone.

 

There were 2 lines, one from the left and one from the right. The lines, by the time we got in, wrapped around each corner of the building.
