When i first saw the trailer and seen this i was like, kick ass way to go George. that's some nice innovation to the prequels, i hope there's more random acts of anakin being cocky,(and there was but not as cool as this).

When i see it now, it's not as cool as it was back then but still enjoyable.

Well, things are rarely as cool as they are in the trailers -- welcome to Hollywood!

I still think it's cool, though... a bit too much of a rip from "The Fifth Element" for my tastes, but for my money, there's no better way to show an overconfident yet skilled monk-warrior than to have him jump out of a yellow speeder and fall eight billion feet or somethin'.

Hmmm. Maybe GL should title E3 "Episode III: More Speeder Jumps! Sunday, Sunday, Sunday!"

    Rick McCallum loves you!

I still think it's cool, because it does show how recklessly cocky Anakin was, and how his attitudes create tension between him and his Master. It also shows Anakin as an average teenager who believes he is invincible and is reckless to the point of foolishness.

I think that any jedi can do this(obi did it well, us non-force users can just about do it, you can skydive and aim yourself) i just think the jedi see it as reckless.

Obi-Wan didn't have much choice in the matter ;) But then, he was being reckless by diving out of the window in the first place.

The cool thing when Anakin does it is that he's having a conversation with Obi-Wan at the time, trying to sense where the assassin is, and comes to a snap decision that if he bails out of the speeder just here that he'll land on it.

That's some pretty impressive intuition, and I get the feeling that Anakin works best with the Force when he's not over-analysing everything.

"Feel, don't think...use your instincts" A lesson from Qui Gon that seems to have never left Anakin, and that's shown in him jumping out of the speeder.

What ruins that scene for me is when anakin says "I'm deeply sorry master."It was just poorly delivered imo.

I thought it was a great scene. It shows the skill level of Anakin and it also shows how impetuous he is.

I'll take this one! ;) Anakin was being sarcastic there. He's also one up on his Master here, because he's been getting the idea to surprise the opposition when he's says he taking a short cut. Obi Wan clearly chastises him thinking that Anakin's cockiness made them miss the target.

You can see Anakin starting to time his approach, and at the same time as I said sarcastically), bemuses Obi Wan with the sorry line. He isn't sorry one bit because he knows his Master didn't see what was coming. I think Obi Wan realizes that Anakin outsmarted him with the "I hate it when he does that" line. Ofcourse Anakin's done some "sudden" things before. They have a very interesting frienship not easily seen on the surface.

    "Anakin was being sarcastic there."

I always thought that's what was going on.

I already knew that, but I still think the line was poorly delivered.

I didn't think anakin was being sarcastic, i just think he really didn't mean it.

How would you have it work? *Padme tone* ;)

Im not trying to make you see it my way, George15 but what exactly is wrong with it?

Hayden to me shows what Anakin was supposed to mean. He wasn't really apologizing, but at the same time, gave a look of swagger and shows he has something else in mind. Nicely done really :)

I just find it amazing how Anakin manages to keep his arms in their sockets while they accelerate at something like 200 mi/hr/sec away from his body after grabbing the speeder. Now if that's not power I don't know what is. Must be those star wars physics laws at work again.

    Exactly. Right on both counts!

Actually the point is, IMO, that no one but Anakin would dare to do such a stunt. When he wants to do something, he?ll do it in some way, and ?to the point?. Regardless the believability. As he says ?if we keep this up, he?ll end up deepfried? and will not be able to question him to get some answers. It was now or never.

More importantly, I think he carries this attitude when dealing with certain bumbling Admirals a la ESB. He can be softer if he wants but if it doesn?t get the job done urgently when needed, no more chances! Or even less forgiving in ANH, when he crushes the neck of the Alliance officer. The plans need to be found and no time to dilly dally.

I?ll like to add that its Anakin?s ?to the point attitude? that gave the OT so much urgency (all because of Darth Vader) and in AOTC, we can see the connections, slowly but surely. When looking back at Ep. II after Ep. III I wager that some more people will appreciate his developing nature and the PT story style to what will lead to the OT.

Personally, I still chuckle at the sheer audacity of Anakin's stunt. Here he's getting chewed out by his mentor, and just out of the blue he excuses himself and casually leaps out of a speeder floating miles above the planet's surface! I love it.

"a bit too much of a rip from "the fifth element"

Probably the comic "the Incal", by Jodorowsky/Moebius, more than "the Fifth element"...but then, the latter were quite inspired of the first.
