So, I watched TCW, but I forgot to pay attention to this. In RotS, Anakin says that he saved Obi-Wan 10 times, with Obi-Wan saying that the incident in Kato Nemodia doesn't count. Did we see in TCW all these times of Anakin saving Obi-Wan?
In the EU I wouldn't be surprised if they had ten other specific instances in mind, but none of that is canon now. I'm not sure if there are ten examples of Anakin saving Obi-Wan in TCW, but that is an interesting way to think of the line in Ep. III I never thought of before. If that could be figured out I'd be a fan.
Well you have 1. AOTC: Anakin recovers from the Force Lightning and blocks Dooku's would-be fatal blow 2. The Clone Wars (Movie): Anakin and Ahsoka blow up the shield allowing Obi-Wan to escape from Whorm Loathsome. 3. Landing at Point Rain: Anakin and Ki-Adi-Mundi save Obi-Wan and his forces from the Geonosians. 4. Grievous Intrigue: Anakin rescues Obi-Wan and Adi Gallia from Grievous's ship. 5. The Citadel: Anakin deactivates the electrical field holding the rescue party's weapons (including Obi-Wan's). 6. Kidnapped: Anakin difuses the bombs around the Togruta village, allowing Obi-Wan to use the Force to beat up a Zygerian slaver. 7. Escape from Kadavo: Anakin and Plo Koon liberate Obi-Wan and the Togrutas from slavery. 8. The Lost One: In their fight with Dooku Anakin uses the Force to stop Obi-Wan from falling. 9. Unseen Cato Nemoidia incident. 10. ROTS: Anakin defeats Dooku and brings Obi-Wan along unconscious on his back. Thoughts? Lol I just watched ROTS last night and thought about this quote too. Sent from my R2 unit
The "business on Cato Nemoidi" took place in the "Labyrinth of Evil" book, something to do with finding Kenobi's rebreather.
And it was gloriously hilarious. Imagine Kenobi on laughing gas and Anakin incredulously wondering WTH is wrong with him. XD
I think there was a reference somewhere to Obi-Wan falling into a nest of gundarks, and Anakin rescuing him - in the AOTC movie? Not sure if that counts.
Darkslayer I really like almost all of your list but I feel strongly that #6 needs a replacement because I definitely do not count Obi-Wan purposefully losing a fight while waiting for Anakin to do something and then kicking ass when Anakin's finally finished as Anakin coming to Obi-Wan's rescue in any way.
Perhaps #6 can be replaced with either- Overlords: Anakin saving Obi-Wan from Daughter during his "Chosen One" test, when Father demanded Anakin choose between Kenobi or Ahsoka. Voyage of Temptation: Anakin slaying Tal Merrik to prevent him from blowing up the Coronet. I'm leaning towards Voyage of Temptation being overlooked on this "list", since Obi-Wan was obviously upset Merrik wasn't taken alive, even prompting Anakin to respond with "What, he was going to blow up the whole ship" or something to that effect. I don't think either Anakin or Obi-Wan would add it to their running joke under these circumstances.
sidv88 Overlords probably still has to be my favorite single episode of TCW so I would go with that. I'm surprised I didn't think of that myself! Visually powerful and also deeply Force-related example.
Iron_lord yes they talk about it once they're back in their normal temporal dimension at the very end of Ghosts of Mortis and Anakin tells Yoda what Obi-Wan thought about it in Voices.
I thought at least some of Anakin's memory may have been erased - perhaps of him Turning To The Dark Side.
Iron_lord the Father erased Anakin's memories of his vision of his future he received from the Son before they left the planet. So Anakin knows he briefly turned to the dark side, but not what the vision was. But that was in the last episode of the trilogy, we were referring to Anakin saving Obi-Wan at the end of Overlords before any of that happens.
Ya, #6 was stretching it. Let's replace it with the Gundark reference from AOTC. I didn't use the Mortis trilogy cause in S6 Anakin says that he, Obi-Wan, and Ahsoka thought Mortis to be merely a vision, so it would not be in their running joke.
