    Well it's official!

    From TFN

UPDATE #4: Well we,ve been speculating since the Hasbro meeting and we now have a confirmation. Star Wars is coming back to the big screen in the form of Star Wars: The Clone Wars! Hitting North American theaters on August 15th, the series will then continue with 30 minute episodes on the Cartoon Newtork with repeat airings on TNT. International dates will be released soon.

What news to go to bed with! :) ;)

See here for StarWars.com's official article about it! I quite like how they are calling each thirty minute episode a "mini-movie". That certainly pleases my feeling of making sure that anything to do with Star Wars is epic ... as it should be.

My guess is that If GL is putting this much energy in the CW, then man, the live action should be great as well. I just got through looking at the new clip of the CWs on SW.com. The new scenes that they glimpse at look really nice, very "epic", especially the Coursant scenes. I hope this series does well. I can't wait to add the DVDs to my SW collection when they arrive in stores.

    As Anakin would say... "Yippeeee!!!"

I noticed they are dealing with Warner nowm rather than Fox. Bit of a surprise that one....

Excellent stuff. Some of the imagery is amazing. We'll now be able to get banners and icons going. I can't wait. :D

One of those pictures looks like theres a battle going on on Tatooine!

August 15th will be a day long remembered.[face_dancing]

Hate to tread on the PT, but there's some imagery in the latest video that's stuff I've always wanted to see in Star Wars. =D=[face_praying][face_dancing]

This is wonderful news. The new video looks even better than the trailer. And since CN isn't in HD yet and the series is being made in high def, it'll be great to see it that way on the reruns on TNT's HD channel. This puts TNT as an obvious front runner for the live action series.

It's going to be weird to see Star Wars without the Fox fanfare before it.

I don't know this for sure, but someone in another thread said that CN is going HD next season, so maybe by the time CW airs, it will be shown in HD.

I totally agree that it would be a natural move to also air the LAS on TNT. TNT is a station that has broad appeal and puts out high quality shows. I'm sure GL was looking for a station that could have the broad appeal to carry both the CW cartoon and the LAS. TNT is a good fit for that. I would expect that GL will see how it goes with the CW, and as long as everything goes smoothly, the LAS will follow.

I REALLY hope they debut the LAS on the big screen as well. It would just up the ante for the quality (and interest) of the show to the general public. Plus, GL would be breaking new ground as I can't think of a show in recent memory that has done such a thing. Fans would love it.

Yeah CN will be in HD, but like I said in that other thread, that stuff ALWAYS gets delayed. I'd hate to miss even one episode in HD.

A theatrical release for the tv series is practically free money. It's about the same as re-releasing a film (even though that isn't really done much anymore) because it's already been paid for.

I also think GL wants the CW series to be seen in some fashion on the big screen. It will really show off the ability of their animation studio, but I think SW (because of it's "epic" nature) belongs on the big screen in some way. Sure, I'll enjoy the TV episodes as well, but main, this release (I hope) will look great on the big screen!

Who knows, maybe SW is destined to be an animated epic from here on out. It does seem to fit quite nicely.

Also, not to put down Japanese Animation, but this looks different enough where it has some originality to it. The desktop wallpaper art looks fantastic. Love it!

CN is already HD...at least on DirecTV. Hoepfully these will also be released on Blu-ray in a timely fashion.

I have a feeling this series is going to upset a lot of people for one BIG reason: continuity is probably going to be tossed aside. I don't know for sure, of course, but I get the feeling this show is going to forget the original cartoons and god knows what else. Anakin having a Padawan sounds bad..I have to agree. It doesn't "fit" and seems out of place. I'll still watch this show though, that'll never stop me - it does look amazing.

And maybe, this will open up the idea of further SW animated movies - maybe stuff that takes place during the Sith Era, etc...If it was done in the style of the upcoming Resident Evil Animated movie, it could be awesome.

I'll happily be in theatres when this comes out! :)

Is anyone familar with the work of Filoni and the writers? I just can't get excited about this until there's a guarantee the film will be as character-driven as the sextet.
