Between 1996-1999, QVC would occasionally have Star Wars sales, selling stuff like printed portraits by Ralph McQuarrie, Applause Vinyls, Star Wars videos, watches, more toys, and a bunch of other stuff. I think they even were selling the life-size Han in Carbonite once. They did some shows for the OT, and then I remember seeing one for TPM. Steve Sansweet was always there helping one of the QVC hosts at the time, I think his name was Steve, too. Whatever happened to those shows? Even if I didn't order from them, I always loved to watch them. They would play Star Wars music in the background, and it was such a good feeling to watch it. They would always make the sets look like the Death Star or stuff from the movies. I also liked hearing other people calling in and expressing their love for Star Wars and why they were buying the things that they were. Anyone know why they don't sell Star Wars stuff anymore?

I remember those! It was funny watching Steve Sansweet cringe every time the host got something wrong...LOL. The other Steve was an idiot. I always enjoyed watching those too, that's where I got my Phantom Menace poster actually :) It came with an exclusive pin.

Sansweet addressed this in the last SW Insider (or maybe the one before). He really didn't get into specifics other than to say that there are no more shows currently planned. If I find the Insider where he talked about, I'll post specifically what he said. I just can't remember right now. It really is a shame - I got some great stuff on those shows.

Meriwyn - I also got my official Episode I poster from QVC! :) And I got that little blue pin also! Believe it or not, mine is still inside the cardboard tube, as I STILL haven't displayed it in a frame........no room. :(

But yeah, I used to love watching those as well....especially the OT shows. It was cool when they would show clips of the movies before and after commercials. I ordered my Special Edition trilogy before them about a month before it was in stores. So that was cool because I called a friend to see if he wanted to come and watch the SEs with me, and he was like, "Those aren't even in stores yet. You must mean the regular old OT." And there I had them, before most of the general public. I also bought some Applause vinyls from QVC......a 15" Darth Vader, which came with a free 11" Chewie with C-3PO. Then I got more of their regular sized vinyls......Vader with removeable dome, Han Solo in stormtrooper disguise, and Boba Fett. I miss those shows! :_|

I actually ended up getting a QVC credit card because of those shows. I remember the show where they were selling the lifesize Stormtrooper. I gave my card to my wife and told her to keep it until the show was over. Then about a half-hour later, I saw something I wanted and could afford and asked for my card back. She said she'd order for me just to play it safe.

I got a great mylar 10th Anniversary Raiders of the Lost Ark poster that was part of a package with the From Star Wars to Indiana Jones book from QVC. It's the only non-Star Wars poster I have up in my Star Wars room.

Anthony Daniels and Mark Hamill also hosted some of these shows even earlier than 1996. At that time, I did not have cable, so some friends of my mom taped them. It was SO neat to see anything Star Wars related on television in the earlier 1990s. The last one I remember was the May 19, 1999 show. I watched it before I went off to see The Phantom Menace the first time.

I asked Steve about this when I was at Disney he said that QVC has stopped doing them but said he would like to do them again.
