Anyone up for the "Hot Dog Safari" on June 4?

Early June may be earlier in a month than we usually have meets, but I found out today that the 17th annual Eddie Andelman Hot Dog Safari will take place on Sunday, June 4 @ Suffolk Downs on Rt. 1A in East Boston (with a Blue Line T stop a short walk from the track). For those of you not familiar with the event, it's an all-you-can-eat hot dog fest (along with soft drinks and other food items) that includes family-oriented activities such as face painting for the kids, an interactive sports park, and a live radio broadcast (the supporting station is WTKK 96.9 FM beginning this year). The event benefits the Joey Fund of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which was the Boston Rebels' official charity when Rosie (starwarschick14) was our CR. Tickets are usually somewhere around $10-12 per person with kids under a certain age admitted free.

The web site for the event is under construction and I will post it when it's fully functional. In the meantime, I'd like to know what you guys think.

 

Interesting suggestion Ritchie. Unfortunately I won't be around that weekend. The wife and I have a wedding to attend.

Don't let my absence deter you guys from making it the June meet if you're up for it though. Just let me know at some point and time if it will be an 'official' meet and I'll ask Meri to post it as a scrolling banner at the top of our page.

The Grand Marshall has also been announced: Patriots great Gino Cappelletti. Tickets (not available yet...keep checking the site) will be $10 in advance, $15 at the door, and $50 for "VIP" tickets.

 

This sounds quite interesting... I will watch the posts on this "with great interest". The padawans just love hot dogs and to benefit a foundation such as CF sounds great!

I was also wondering if anyone here ever has gaming nights (to play SWTP, etc.)... I think that would be fun to have SW game nights!

PS - I've had so much going on lately hence my disappearance from the boards. Hopefully, things will be calming down now. My family needs a break after 16 months of bad luck (Since January 05, each of my parents have had a heart attack, my aunt died and just a week ago, my Mom fell and broke her hip). Add that to my separation from my husband and I have bearly had time to breathe! LOL

 

Eddie Andelman announced on "The New Sports Huddle" the other night that advance tickets will soon be available at all Sovereign Bank branches.

WoV, sorry to hear about everything that's been going on with you, but hopefully you'll be able to make it. I'll likely be there w/ the usual friend even if this is not the June meet.

 

Re-titled the thread and gave it a bump in order to see if there was anyone still interested in going to this. I know Wormie's out b/c of a wedding, but I think WifeofVader said she might be interested and chewykingwookiee had his plans up in the air to see how his work schedule shook out. Anyone else interested?

 

I am unfortunately out of this one. I am work nights next weekend. A lil more money in my pocket which is always a good thing.

 

I may be out of this one now, too. I'm more likely to spend my money this week on another memory upgrade. WoV, maybe next time.

I wasn't able to make it either... between the Apprentice's dance shows on Saturday and everything else going on, I was exhausted and broke.

Oh well... maybe next year!
