One thing always bothered me. Why are JarJar, and all the other Gungan's eyes on stalks coming out of their head, but Boss Nass' eyes are sunk into his skull, with a ridged brow over them, much more like a human. Could Boss Nass be from a different species, or subgenus of Gungan then JarJar and the other Gungans? Possibly Boss Nass's species is the "ruling" class of the Gungan hierarchy, as it does seem the other Bosses resemble him, more than they do the average Gungan on the street.

From the Official Site's Databank Entry for Gungans:

While there are a number of different races, most Gungans exhibit the same physical traits. They tend to be tall and lanky humanoids.Their skeletal structure is extremely flexible, as it is made of cartilaginous material rather than hard bone. This makes their faces rather expressive, and makes their bodies more resistant to damage.

There are at least two distinct Gungan races. The Otolla Gungan is characterized by a tall and lanky build, long ears (or haillu), inquisitive eyes atop short stalks, and a pronounced bill. The Ankura Gungan is an older race, with a stockier build, shorter bill and haillu, and hooded eyes. Gungans are hatched from eggs in water cradles, and are born as tadpoles. They quickly grow limbs and are able to walk on land within a standard month of hatching.

    I'd say so.

They're not 'species' though, I don't think -- more like varieties, or races if you will.

Like different breeds of dogs, or different races of human folks.

Are Starr Jones and Michael Jordan the same species? That's exactly the same sort of question.

Interesting facts. I did not know that Gungans were hatched from eggs.

Life comes in all sorts of paradoxically interesting shapes and sizes.

Yes look at Those who have ancestory from near the Artic v/s those who are from near the Equator. Inuits v/s sub Saharaians. The height is some thing like 5 ft v/s 6.6 ft. It is a micro evolution change to adapt to the enviroment. Compact bodies v/s bodies that displace their heat more efficiently.
