Are Jedi truly no match for the droideka's?

Ok, though the title is a little humourous, I am serious about this.

Everytime powerful trained jedi come up against the droideka's (shielded versions) they run. Happened in ep 1, and ep 3. (btw I liked the homage paid to ep 1 in that scene; when obi-wan and anakin back away fro the droideka's it was similar to jinn and kenobi in ep 1. I ahlf expected obi-wan to plunge his saber into the blast door to cut it open ;) )

Would it not have been nice to see a Jedi, like obi-wan perhaps, use the force to fling them away or destroy them? As it is, one would think why did count dooku come in the 'throne room' with super battle droids, when he could have come in with droidekas?

Why did grievous surround himself by easily chopped droids instead of droideka's?

Heck, coming back to the title, why did Yoda not somehow purchase/steal a droideka and bring it with him to aid him in killing sidious?

Screw clonetroopers, why did sidious not order an army of shileded droideka's instead?

As it is, the only person to have destroyed shielded droideka's at all is 'lil' annie, when he piloted the naboo cruiser in ep 1. And that was by accident... [face_plain]

    Thoughts?

Well - Droidekas are too expensive to MASS produce. They have shield generators and all the expensive stuff. It would be too much money to have nothing but Droidekas.

Then theres the fact that they arent the best things to deploy in a more Kashyyyk like environment in which Battle Droids would be better.
Yoda didnt get a Droideka to go with him because
1: Sidious would zap it with lightning and destroy it with ease
2: He was in a rush - and where is he going to get a Droideka from and modify it in a day or two.

Finally - Jedi CAN beat Droidekas if they really tried. I guess Anie and Obi-Wan were in a hurry and Droidekas are trouble. Theres a risk of getting a serious injury. Better avoid than regret... but yea they could beat the Droidekas. Just if one of them got hurt they cant just walk out of the ship or get to medbay.

    :D

I can't remember which, but either Asajj Ventress or Aurra Sing took out 4 droidekas at once.

    This was in EU though.

In EU, the Jedi take out droideka's by:

    1. Force pushing them over.
    2. Using a grenade (when available) to disrupt their shieds.
    3. Throwing their lightsaber through the shield.
    4. Moving around the Droideka quickly (they can't turn fast) and simply cutting them close range.

3 and 4 don't work well against multiple Droideka's, but there's never really that many at a time because they cost so much to make. Remember, Neimodians are EXTREMELY cheap.

Not all droideka's have shield generators. Those the Jedi can take out fairly quickly. THe only ones that give the Jedi's problems are the ones with shields. Because no matter where you deflect the blast it's not gonna hurt the droideka.

I know that Annie took them out with the blasters from a naboo star fighter, and that a regular blaster probably wouldn't do much, but the shields have got to give if you just keep hammering it with blasters. Why can't one jedi deflect shots while the other one keep blasting the shield until it brakes?

Outside EU Thats a very good question. Surround Jedis with them. I would think they could easily force push them. At least before they started shooting.

Yea - a Jedi would probably need too much strength and attention to be able to manage to Force Push a Droideka without taking fire.
