JCC Are the reality shows on History Channel and Trutv completely fake?

I have to ask because I am curious I mostly watch the reality shows that air on History Channel like Pawn Stars & American Pickers mostly for learning a bit of history on the items we see. And the shows on Trutv like Hardcore Pawn, Storage Hunters and Container Wars mostly for the drama and seeing the interesting items in the show. But my question is are they at all fake and dramatized? Some people have said Pawn Star Wars & American Pickers is fake but I find that hard to believe which is why I am asking. The more faker shows like the ones I watch on Trutv seem more fake then anything because I find it hard to believe there is such drama that happens in pawn shops and at storage or container auctions. So are all those shows fake? And how are they?

 

I'm pretty sure Vikings is fictionalised, yes.

 

Well that show isn't what I was refering to its just a normal TV show not a reality show and technically the show is based on the life of a real life viking from that era of time and the various characters in it are real as well but its obviously dramatized since I don't think much is known about the time. But not the point I am still wondering if those various reality shows on those two networks are fake?

 

The History Channel is bad and it should feel bad.

Do not let the name "Reality TV" Fool you....its short for Alternative Reality Television and its still TV....having worked on a few of these personally, i can tell you those "skits" are rehearsed/staged/reshot and editted.... Sure, there is a lot of unscripted stuff and off the cuff things......but most of the time, its like, Hey that was funny/cool/interesting, say it/do it again BUT like this....While he says it like that, I want you to react as if ______ just happened......Also, listen to the audio edits/pauses/breaks too, Pawn Stars is NOTORIOUS for pausing a vocal track to "build suspense" IE: The expert reveal of somethings worth.....

 

Yeah I know but I feel compared to shows like Hardcore Pawn, Storage Hunters and Container Wars 3 reality shows on Trutv appear more real then the reality shows on history channel like Pawn Stars and American Pickers. On those shows on history channel its all about history of the items we see and no drama which makes it seem more real. On the shows on trutv it can be kind of funny on how unrealistic it is because of all the drama and back handedness. Like when you watch it its almost like storage and container auctions are almost cutthroat things to go to.

These sorts of shows are staged. For example, Pawn Stars you have to schedule things with them to bring stuff in, you don't just walk in with it. I've got a friend that was on a different channel's show that focuses on movie memorabilia (he owns a store) and the show told him exactly how much to pay for something, gave him the money for it, then had them act like they were negotiating the sale fresh.

 

I think the only time any of these shows was actually real was back in 1992.

Back when SciFi Channel was....The SciFi Channel.

Oh and home shopping channels. Home shopping is always real.

 

They should make a reality show about people whose lives were totally ruined by doing a reality show.

 

Or just stop doing Reality Shows and make some good shows.

 

they cant stop doing reality shows until they do the final epic catfish episode where they blow the doors off of how frieda is catfishing all of us

I'm fairly certain that the ones on TRUTv are staged, yes.

 

If I want to observe the behavior of people with low IQs, I'll watch C-SPAN.

 

If I want to observe the behavior of people with low IQ's, I'll walk in a crowded mall and yell TWILIGHT SUCKS and witness the expected responses.
