They are my favorites and I defiantly recommend them but if your not really into space combat, star fighter battles, and technology gibberish then you may not like it.

They?re a really good series of books, and I did enjoy reading them, but some simply stand out more then others. While most of the characters and space battles described in the series are well done, generally I felt like I was reading a mass-produced science fiction series rather then a Star Wars book. For me, most of the time it lacks that epic and grand space opera feel that some of the other books have.

If you have the time and desire though then it is worth it.

they're very good, with a lot of funny lines. some things all long and drawn out, but all in all, they're rather good.

Yes, they are certainly worth reading, especially Allston's Wraith Squadron novels. Now those are classics, and some of the best EU books ever written.

For the Rogues, it kind of depends on your preferences. IMO, the Wraiths are a must-read.

Definitely. One would think that books without Han, Luke, and Leia wouldn't be able maintain the "feeling" of the original trilogy, but the X-Wing books pull it off.

As someone currently reading, them and as such was recently in a similar situation to you, I can safely say that so far (I'm currently at Iron Fist) it has been worth it. :)

Oh yeah. I think I'm one of the few people that actually liked Isard's Revenge. But it resolves the whole Lusankya storyline and brings back a character from ANH just in time for Dark Empire. (Note: This book starts at the end of the Last Command.)

And don't foget about Starfighters of Adumar, that's what I consider to be the best one. (Note: You might need to know the basic plot of the JA trilogy to get the first part though.)

Yes! :D Lieutenant Kettch is the best!! Hehe..yeah I love both series. When I finished the part in the Rogue Squadron books where Aaron Allston starts writing the Wraith Squadron, I thought I would miss the characters from Rogue Squadron since besides Wedge, they were all new characters. But I didn't, because both are interesting in their own way. Both parts of the series are very, very, very (etc.) good.
In fact, I used to kind of half-heartedly skim the starfighter/X-Wing battles in books, but the Rogue Squadron helped me appreciate them, since I couldn't skim the battles without losing tons of details. :) And the plot, for that matter.

The X-Wing novels are definitely worth the read; they're probably just about my favorite series of books (behind Zahn novels and pretty close to NJO). There is a ton of action in just about every one, the action varies between space combat and ground-pounding. I think that Starfighters of Adumar (spelling?) is probably the funniest one (Wes is too damn funny! I couldn't stop laughing in a bunch of his scenes). I guess I'm an odd-ball too, because I liked Isard's Revenge as well; it really gave a good ending to the series. I thought that Bacta War was a really good one too, because that was mainly combat and strategy.

Stackpole and Alston cooked up some really great Star Wars books for this series. Their excellent to read and don't use any of the main characters from the OT as their focal as most of the EU novels do. Wedge is the only movie character to appear through the enitre series, though Janson and Hobbie, both of whom actually appeared on screen in ESB, do appear in many of the books.

You're not wasting your time by reading them.

I've only read the first four books of this series. The Krytos Trap was my favorite one. That Krytos virus is one nasty thing, judging by what it does. Though, the idea of a virus that harms all species but humans sounds like bullsheet. Not all species have the same organic biology or whatever. So theres bound to be multiple species that wouldn't be effected by the Krytos virus.

Definitely!!!!!!!! You'll want to read them over and over again and realise just how good the Rebel Pilots are (especially Wedge, Tych, Wes, Face, Corran...the list goes on and on!!) They may dress in bright orange but they're still the coolest dudes around! ;)

They tend to be read better as trilogies and series cauz you just can't wait for the next book! If you have the dosh buy them like that so that you won't agonise over the long wait. LOL :)
