Do you think that the Angels that live on Iego are real? If so, what do you think they are like?

I thought you were going to use this to suggest that he sees her dead in a premonition; giving further proof to the "Padme will die" theory... Thank goodness! I think the "angels" are just a story, not real, just told by pilots to the ignorant locals who haven't any idea what's out in space.

 

Good call Master_Byrd, the slaves are the lowest form of human in the outer rim territories. They are ignorant to the ways of space and other worlds.

 

He's a kid... he's probably been told lots of stories. Might've gotten a couple of 'em confused. That's my interpretation anyway.

The specifics aren't important. What IS important is that this little speech sets him up as a romantic, a dreamer. And someone just a little bit wise beyond his years.

I think the Angels of Iego are like the Loch Ness Monster. Only more attractive. Well, I'm sure the Loch Ness Monster is attractive in his/her own way, but not in a conventional sense.

I was really hoping that in AOTC, while in transit on the tramp freighter to Naboo, Anakin and Padme would have overheard some spacer trying to pick up a girl with that line. It always struck me that this would probably be what Anakin would have overheard as a kid in Mos Espa, and being the naive, earnest little kid that he was, he'd have taken it literally. Anakin and Padme hearing somebody use it as a pick-up line years later would have provided a great little moment for them, in a movie where they unfortunately had precious few "great little moments".

 

I think this was more figuratively speaking than anything else.

It also could work that he's trying to impress Padme with this line, because partly he's attracted to her, along with the line "Im a pilot you know and someday Im going to fly a way from this place".

When I say figuratively, is just my opinion that GL is possibly correlating what Padme is, an "angel" in disguise as opposed to later on when he learn a bit more about Palpatine who's the "devil" in disguise, in the bigger scope of things and in the realms of fantasy.

Or on the other side of the coin, I think it could be that deep space pilots, may hallucinate and imagine that they encounter "angels". In other words they imagine something pleasant to keep themselves tranquil due to the pressures of their job in the loneliness and far reaches of space.

 

You know, if he had said anything other than "angel", that whole scene could have been salvaged. "Are you a Nascai?" "A what?" "I'm told they're the most beautiful creatures in the galaxy. Are you?"

Anything else would have been an improvement. Even "Are you a Traxscharalayshk'anjiiolundure?"

 

the angels from iego are probably on a holiday issue of a nudy magazine that anakin had gotten a glimpse of at kitster's crib......

i bet angel's are pretty generic, even though Traxscharalayshk'anjiiolundure has a ring to it. Episode 3 should be called "Coming of the Traxscharalayshk'anjiiolundure"
