I'm a big fan of old Arnie, but even I can tell his appeal is slipping. His last few films: Jingle All the Way (not a terrible family flick), Batman & Robin (I don't consider it as bad as many people say it is, but it was pretty bad compared to the others), End of Days (Actually, this is one of my favorite films of his), and The Sixth Day (not bad), have all been dismal failers, mainly at the box office.

His latest film, Collateral Damage, which I think brings back the old spirit of Arnie's older films was a great action flick, but unfortionatly, (due to the times mots likely), it has failed at the Box Office, which is a shame.

Arnold's career is slipping. Perhaps it's because the films he does border the same guide lines, maybe it's because his last few films were rather weak script wise, but either way, I hope he gets back in the game.

The guy's like over 54 years old, yet he still looks like he's 40. He has a few new films that will come out soon, The Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Ump, and True Lies 2. Now, Ump is a comedy/action flick, with a premise that hopefully will go over well. As for True Lies 2 and The Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, both are sequals to already succesful films. If these two sequals follow the same style as the originals, they are guranteed hits.

I hope that Arnold will at least get one more successful film before he retires. he obviously can't keep doing action flicks forever. He'll be turning 60 in only a few short years. I don't think he'll be able to continue doing all the stunts he's been doing, and since drama isn't the best idea for him, he will probally retire in a few years.

    Sorry about the length.

The Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Ump, and True Lies 2

According to Bill Paxton, a good friend of James Cameron, there's a good chance TL2 won't happen because Cameron's just in no condition to make it after the events of 9/11. I've never heard of Ump. But Arnold's also signed to do a remake of the old SF/Western/Adventure movie Westworld, and then after that he's doing King Conan.

Terminator 3 should get him back on track. But he's fading badly. Physically, age and health have taken it's toll on him. I actually think the True Lies sequel is a mistake. That was a great film but a sequel would have benefited by being relased two or three years later. It's been eight years since True Lies came out and I don't think there's any anticipation for it at all.

Ahhhhhnold! :p He's cool, I like him. Frankly, I've never seen what's behind the whole "box office" thing. Some of my fave movies have done terrible at the box office. And some movies I hate (coughtitaniccoughetcough) have done amazingly great. Ppl at studios need to take their heads out of their money bags. [face_plain]

He can't act as well as Bruce Willis, can he? He can't do romantic, or shakespear types well.

I hope he find materials that would suit his Physical nature, yet not have him fight like crazy at his old age.

Put him on the X-files movies, would be one smart move!

arnold is getting old very fast. did you see those wrinkles around his eyes in colateral damage? he should stop doing action flicks after he's done with T3 and true lies 2.

i think that the rock has a chance of replacing him as the big muscular hero in movies.

    US Gross Budget
    ----- ------
    Jingle All The Way $60.573 m $60 m
    Batman & Robin $107.285 m $110 m
    End Of Days $66.862 m $83 m
    The 6th Day $34.543 m $82 m
    Collateral Damage $39.612 m $85 m

By the amount these movies have grossed compared with its budget, these were all failures. But, I think it's a budget problem more than it is a creative problem. Arnie's last three movies coast just above $80m a piece. These movies are simply too expensive. And the public's not going to buy the same old Arnie movie.

By the way, I hear Cameron is NOT directing T3. I heard it's Jonathan Mostow (he directed U-571). So, I'm not sure if it's a Cameron-approved story. EDIT: James Cameron does have a writing credit in T3, but it's among a LOT of others.
