I've just about finished my Tie Pilot suit and seeing it in it's grey primer state before it's sprayed black got me thinking that maybe I could do a General Veers style costume as my next project when I've got that one done

Just wondering though for the helmet what could I use as the top part-once I've got that main piece I can easily build the Vaderesque neck protector onto it out of plastic or fibreglass-

Any war helmets which could be adapted?

By the way I'm pretty skint when it comes to money so it can't cost too much.
Goggles and everything else I'm fine with.

It's either this one or the Imperial [long snoot]spy .

The character you're referring to is General Veers. His helmet is a Snowtrooper helmet with added black trim. The dome may be the same as a Stormtrooper with the added lower piece. The chest armor and big "belt buckle" are also just snowtrooper armor. The chest armor is VERY different from TIE Armor. I can't think of any way to make this short of molding and vacuforming it...at least not accurately.

FYI - the Imperial spy is named Garindan. Someone was just selling a mask on ebay.

    Cheers -
I often if I can't get a shape right I make it in card and then fibreglass over it.

I wasn't thinking of using the Tie armour but just seeing it grey got me thinking about doing a Veers costume.

I can't wait to get started on it then when I'm done I can do the long snoot too!

    Thanks again!

Veers armor is green, just so you know. :) Kind of an army green color. Don't forget about the huge belt armor piece, too. Like the mother of all belt buckles.

I'll disagree and say it was gray. Gray looks better anyway, IMO. Its the same sort of gray that the AT ST drivers wear, at least I thought...

if you have access to it, check out the action figure archive book, its silver and has the old and new action figures made before 1999, on the page with an imperial commander, it shows a clear picture of veers on set and his costume is pretty much gray. Just some info to think about.

EDIT: 'gray', 'grey', must be consistant.

Nope, it's green. I have a really good pic from Celebration that Glover (Veers) autographed and it's definately green. I have the vintage figure, and it's gray, but the figure is wrong. Here's some pics I found online and all show a very clear olive green color:

    No mistaking this one:

Here's a custom figure someone made, and they made it green:

Here is a costume pic showing all the parts. Another person who believes the armor is green:

The armor is the same color as the Imperial officers:
    Green
I don't know where gray came from, but it is not right.
The belt buckle is the same as the officers buckle (if you are making a TIE pilot, it is the same buckle) however, the buckle is not the same as the Snowtroopers.
The helmet is fairly easy to form, just make it in two parts.
The vest is going to be harder than a TIE pilot, but it is not impossible.
I was talking with Nostradamus as well as the 501st identification chart and she says that the color of the officers uniform is accurate as Black, Green (as seen on the POTF Tarken figure) or white for Grand Admirals and Imperial Intelligence Officers.

The green can be seen here?

Here, we can see that the uniform is green.

Piett shown with another view of the uniform.

The white and black are inconsequential for this costume.

Well played! You guys are right.

at any rate, I still maintain that gray looks better.

EDIT: just so you know where I was coming from, look at a comparison between the left hand graphics in these two links..

thisone clearly shows a green uniform...
and this one, even though it may be green, is gray in the picture.

Veers doesn't wear the lower "stomach" armor like the snowtroopers wear? Are there pics of this? I didn't find any online. It would seem that he should wear it since the upper armor he wears has that large gap that it fits into.

Here's something I found that may interest you guys. Also, the grey comes from the kenner figure of Veers, called AT-AT Commander.

So, there's where the grey came from.

I have that figured on the card. I had it autographed at Celebration. My only vintage figure autograph.
